Searching Collections on docs.sun.com

With the recent updates to, and improved performance of, docs.sun.com, the following was brought to my attention. Here is a scenario: I am on the page for the Access Manager 7.1 documentation set. In the search box, I type
load balancerand hit Enter. Previously, I would receive results specific to the Access Manager 7.1 documentation set. Now, my results include books from all over the docs.sun.com site and not just the Access Manager 7.1 documentation set on which page I searched. According to the docs.sun.com engineers, collection search is no longer supported due to the OneSearch integration. Don't click away yet! First take a deep breath and watch this calming video of the May 7, 2007 sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Now continue reading. There is a workaround not alluded to in Search Tips! Add the product name to your search. In the example scenario, you would type
"Access Manager" load balancerand hit Enter. The primary results will be specific to the product you desire. NOTE: As we all know, the double quotes around the product name forces the search engine to group the product string. You can also add the version number within the double quotes to narrow the search even further, as in
"Access Manager 7.1" load balancer. It's not the prettiest but that's why they call them workarounds. UPDATE: The big guy of Sun blogging, JohnD, has added more search tricks for the new docs.sun search engine in this blog entry.
