Any Trouble with the OpenSSO Configurator

When redeploying the OpenSSO WAR on a machine, you might see this message when running the configurator for the redeployed WAR:

Service already exists : iPlanetAMAuthSafeWordService , 1.0

It is possible the previous instance of OpenSSO did not shutdown correctly. To troubleshoot this message, try the following:

  1. Run the following command to check whether the OpenDS port is still up.
    netstat -a | grep 389
  2. Shutdown your web container.
  3. Remove $HOME/AccessManager/\*
  4. Remove basedir
  5. Restart the web container.
  6. Run netstat to check whether the OpenDS port is still up.
    netstat -a | grep 389
  7. Execute configurator.

Now watch Any Trouble performing their EXCELLENT 80's tune, Second Choice. (And they are still around - check out this newish tune called That Sound on YouTube.)
