We will be hosting an Ask The Experts session on March 24th.
We invite you all to join where we can discuss and share various ideas around how to optimally use WebSphere software on Solaris platform.

Dileep,
In the transcripts of this session, I noticed a question on CPU starvation messages with WebSphere on Solaris 10. We had those too, with WAS 6.1.0.21, and we got rid of them by setting the JVM parameter XX:+DisableExplicitGC. After some more JVM tuning, we noticed that these messages would still incidentally occur when a full garbage collection was taking place, but after setting the JVM parameter -XX:+AggressiveOpts these have not occurred anymore either.

The DisableExplicitGC was not documented in the IBM redbook for WAS 6 on Solaris 10, but for us it seems to be the fix we were looking for.

Thanks for your input and sharing your observation !
This clearly indicates that when GC's are happening it delivers a CPU starvation message at least for AggressiveOpts option. Looks like you were able to eliminate some of these by combination of JVM Options. However I did not quite understand how DisableExplicitGC option would help as you stated it would be default behavior.
