The influence and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s advocacy has resulted in vital progress in instilling fundamental civil rights for all. At Oracle, we honor Dr. King’s legacy and strive to unlock endless possibilities for those with different backgrounds, abilities and ways of thinking. We strongly believe innovation starts with inclusion, which is why we are committed to creating a workplace where everyone can succeed without barriers.
Across the country, Oracle employees recognize MLK Jr. Day as a National Day of Service by giving back and participating in MLK Jr. festivals, community marches, local charity drives, helping at local learning centers and more.
Del Rochester, group vice president at Oracle shared how she honors Dr. King’s legacy: “One of the ways I celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and accomplishments is by helping young people achieve the best version of themselves through education. I previously spent 10 years running a scholarship committee and served as the chairperson on the board of directors for a nonprofit in my community that provided over $4 million in scholarships to hundreds of African-American high school students pursuing a college education. As a person from very humble beginnings, who experienced the transformative impact of a high-quality education, helping young people achieve their dreams through education has always been very important to me and is a wonderful way to honor Dr. King’s legacy.”
As Dr. King said, “human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable,” so it’s up to us to continue the movement for equality, growth and opportunity for future generations.
