The OTN Database and Developer Community

Laura Ramsey
Manager, Oracle Database Developer Communities

You are standing at the OTN DBA/Dev Watercooler.

It's the place where Oracle DBAs and Developers can get the news and resources you need to Run Faster and Jump Higher. This is the place for a community connection that will help you do more with more.

When I joined the OTN team as the Database Community manager nearly a year ago, I knew I was inheriting a community of massive proportions. The heritage of Oracle DBA/DEV is storied, and the Oracle world knew better than I did just how huge the /technet content flow is. And when I looked more closely, I was stunned.

And as I began to participate more, I saw that the OTN DBA/DEV community was more than just the website and resources…but an energetic tribe of like-minded technology enthusiasts. The contributions to Oracle User Group events and activities were inspiring. The community chatter on Twitter was deafening. The flow of conversations might start with the weather in Transylvania, but it would move quickly to sharing scripts, expertise, links to downloads, tutorials, and good hearted teasing or a heartfelt "Thank You" between friends.

It was contagious.

It was clear: the community is the content.

And what a community we have. With literally hundreds of Oracle ACEs and ACE Directors contributing articles and hosting labs, taking laps around the globe to participate in events and Oracle customer engagements where they share technology expertise, the community has entered a new realm… a realm that cannot be reproduced in a lab…because it's the result of people who have a common passion: Mastering Oracle Database Technology.

So, in upcoming blogs here at the OTN DBA/DEV Watercooler, look for news about useful content, resources and events from Oracle Technology Network and from several DBA/DEV community leaders. We're all lined up for the start of a great race.

Ready, GO!
