The holidays aren’t here quite yet, but at the rate we’re announcing and teasing what we’re introducing at KubeCon in November, you’d be forgiven for thinking they’ve arrived early.

In this post, you’ll find a snapshot of some of our most anticipated announcements on two fronts, Oracle AppDev and KubeCon 2023.

First up, here’s what happening with Oracle's AppDev platform:

AppDev Announcements

We recently announced new capabilities that make Oracle's application development platform more powerful than it's ever been.

Building, scaling, and shipping your applications just got easier following these annoucnements:

  • Oracle Cloud Guard Container Governance: Enables developers to enhance security for Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE) via predefined policies aligned to Kubernetes Security Posture Management.
  • Arm Support for all Runtimes: Helps developers leverage lower-cost CPUs for all runtimes, including OCI Functions, OKE Virtual Nodes, and OCI Container Instances in addition to bare metal compute, virtual machines, and OKE Managed Nodes.
  • Java 21: Helps developers increase productivity and drive innovation and growth across their organizations. Announced today, Java 21 (Oracle JDK 21) is the latest version of the world’s number one programming language and development platform.
  • GraalOS: Helps developers improve the responsiveness of applications while lowering costs. GraalOS is a technology that works with advanced GraalVM Native Image to enable deployed applications to run as native machine executables to take full advantage of the latest Arm and Intel features.

Together, these capabilities make Oracle's AppDev tools more powerful than ever. But we don’t just rely on our own tools to be the industry’s best cloud provider — we contribute and incorporate open source.

KubeCon Teasers

Open source makes up a large part of our identity at Oracle. So large, in fact, that we're making a huge splash at KubeCon 2023 in Chicago by sponsoring at the Diamond level and sharing some of open source strategy and OKE developments during the KubeCon keynote.

Here’s a quick teaser of what we’ll be announcing at KubeCon:

  • Ingress Controler — We’ve launched a new ingress controller which empowers you to make resource routing decisions from a high-level to the most finely tuned detail. More details to come at KubeCon!
  • Kasten partnership — We’re partnering with Kasten, whose data management platform, K10, takes all the worry out of managing your clusters with disaster recovery, application mobility, and backup capabilities. With Oracle’s emphasis on cloud native, this partnership just makes sense.

Between witnessing Kubernetes/Observability/DB in action to make a video game, and attending Mahesh Thiagarajan’s keynote, and plenty of lightning talks, there’s so much to come see at our booth at this year’s KubeCon.

Ok, we know that’s a lot. But with so much going on, how cold we not gush about all the excitement?

We’ll plan on seeing you at KubeCon.

Come visit booth B3 to visit us, won’t you?
