Break New Ground

Face2Face at OpenWorld

The obvious benefit of traveling from Cleveland to San Francisco to take part in OpenWorld is that it provides an opportunity to have an actual face-to-face, three-dimensional conversation with people who otherwise exist in my world only as lines of text and maybe a thumbnail image on my laptop screen. At Sunday night's Oracle Blogger Meet-up at the Thirsty Bear,  at the information desk in the OTN Lounge in Moscone West yesterday, and at last night's massive OTN Night shindig at the San Francisco Hilton, it has been enormously satisfying to connect with so many people, especially since I work from home, where for most of my day contact with other living beings is limited to my dog, a creature of limited interests and even more limited conversational skills.

Today will be more of the same, and that's a very good thing. If you're at OOW and you can spare a moment this morning, drop by the OTN Lounge on Level 3 in Moscone West to say hello, have an espresso, and grab some swag.

Gotta go. I'm running late...
