The great thing for me about being here at Oracle OpenWorld is the opportunity to have actual face-to-face conversations with members of the OTN architect community. My contact with these folks is usually limited to email, Twitter, and the occasional phone call.
The talk at the Oracle ACE Dinner on Sunday (which included a birthday surprise for OTN head honcho Justin Kestelyn, rendered in frosting in the photo, left), and at the Enterprise Architecture Meet-up on Monday (right) covered a broad range of issues spanning the technical and cultural challenges in developing and implementing architecture at every level.
The topics that emerged from those conversations, and the conversations to come over the next couple of days here at OOW09, will drive the content you’ll see on this blog, in articles and papers available on OTN, and, of course, in upcoming Arch2Arch podcasts.
The prospect of developing good content is plenty satisfying, but the real reward for me is the prospect of continuing my connection with these scary-smart, interesting, passionate, witty, talkative people. I’m happy and honored to be a part of their community, and so glad for the chance for some face time.
