On 30 Jan 2010, the Hong Kong OpenSolaris User Group was started. With the sincere help from VTC (especially Chim Sir), we ran a casual kickoff event with the following 3 different tech sessions (you can download slides from the following links):
2:30 - 2:45pm Kick Off Speech Presented by Mickey Fan, Manager, Sun Microsystems
2:45 - 3:30pm OpenSolaris - Platform for Web 3.0 Presented by Victor Chiu, Senior Architect, Sun Microsystems
3:30 - 3:45pm Break
3:45 - 4:30pm Solve the most challenging storage question with OpenSolaris Presented by Ivan Ma,Senior Architect, Sun Microsystems
4:30 - 5:15pm Meet the OpenSolaris Engineer Presented by Poon Ka Cheong, OpenSolaris Engineer, Sun Microsystems
Acutally, there were around 60 people attending the user group. Among the audience, 2/3 were IT practitioners and 1/3 were students. It's glad to see some questions from the audience especially to our Solaris engineer, Poon Ka Cheong.
There were a lot of gifts for kickoff event and people could get booklet, T-Shirts and Caps
