Comments:

Hi ,
We are developing JSR 286 compliant portlet.We are using Glassfish Server V2 with OpenPortal Portlet container 2.0 for deployment of our portlets.

When we try to modify the window state of the portlet through processEvent() method of portlet,the window state does not get modified.
e.g. eventResponse.setWindowState(WindowState.MAXIMIZED);

But if we try to modify the window state of the portlet through processAction() method of portlet,the window state gets modified.
e.g. actionResponse.setWindowState(WindowState.MAXIMIZED);

Can anybody comment if it is the issue with glassfish server V2 or OpenPortal Portlet container 2.0?

This feature is currently in the trunk and not released yet(undergoing testing). You can check the issue https://portlet-container.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=211 for more details. Please checkout the latest trunk and try it out and let me know if there are any issues. Thanks

Dear Deepak,

here is a strange question I am wondering. Is it possible to develop full production portlets and use them having Tomcat as our web container + OpenPortal Portlet Container without the need of a portal server like Liferay, Jetspeed, etc., so that we can access a "conventional" web page with typical web content along with just one portlet (all in a JSP page) and we can make use of our portlet functionality without any troubles?

Sorry if the question doesn't make any sense to you at all but I am very new to this and I have been thinking about this for a long time and needed to clarify my mind.

I would appreciate any informative comment,

Thank you,

Dom

Hi Dom,
You can do that. With the new version of Portlet Container, you can embed portlets in JSP. This will work when you decide in advance the number of portlets that you want to use and embed in a JSP page. But later if you want to add more portlets then you will have task in hand. That's why you need portals like Liferay, Jetspeed etc..which provide typical portal features like personalization, customization, SSO , IBCD etc..In case you are using the above solution, you need to provide that in your code.

Hope this helps,
Deepak
