Promote Yourself in Exadata Express Using a Custom Domain Name for APEX Applications and REST Endpoints

Starting in March 2018, customers of Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service can promote their brand by exposing Application Express (APEX) applications and REST endpoints using their own domain name and SSL/TLS certificate.

This new "vanity URL" functionality enables application end-users to see a familiar name in the address bar of their browser and developers who use Oracle Database REST access to see a familiar name in HTTPS APIs. It also supports IP whitelists for improved security and privacy in front of APEX- and REST-based apps. Vanity URLs optionally can replace or complement the default oraclecloudapps.com domain and Oracle SSL certificate that are included in Exadata Express out of the box.

Exadata Express implements an innovative approach to provide vanity URLs. It integrates with other cloud services including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Load Balancing Classic (LBaaS) and the customer's own DNS service, stitching these technologies together with a straightforward UI that makes vanity URLs easy to implement.

To learn more about vanity URLs in Exadata Express, take a look at this recent PM Office Hours session recording. The video demonstrates configuring and using vanity URLs with Oracle LBaaS Classic (note: skip ahead to minute 09:00).
