The July 2015 PSU (Patch Set Update) is now available for patching existing service instances of Oracle Database Cloud Service (Database as a Service).

Before you apply the patch
Before you apply this patch, you need to update the cloud tooling on the service instance by following the instructions Updating the Cloud Tooling on an Oracle Database Cloud Service (Database as a Service) Instance.

When you apply the patch
You can precheck and apply the July 2015 PSU without any issues, unless the service instance is running Oracle Database 12c at the January 2015 PSU or April 2015 PSU software level. In this case, the operation fails with an error indicating that prechecking failed.
You can safely ignore this error and force application of the patch:
Using the Oracle Database Cloud Service console:

After choosing the Patch option from the menu for the July 2015 Patch Set Update, enable the Force apply patch option before you click the Patch button in the Patch Service window.

Using the dbpatchm subcommand of the dbaascli utility:

Before applying the patch, set the value of the ignore_patch_conflict key to 1 in the /var/opt/oracle/patch/dbpatchm.cfg patching configuration file; for example:

ignore_patch_conflict=1
