New Pricing for Sun SPOTs

So we're almost sold out of Sun SPOTs, but we have also changed the pricing model. Remember when users were complaining that the retail price for $750/kit was too high? Right. So we have made some adjustments to the pricing model.

  1. There is no difference between 'retail' and 'educational' pricing anymore.
  2. The single price is $399.00 per kit.

You read those prices correctly. We have lowered the retail price from $750.00 to $399.00 which is a pretty darned good deal! I encourage you all to get over to our store and order up!

Comments:

EOL or is there a chance that those of us who are not in .us will get another chance to order?

The current SPOT (the one we have been selling for the past few years) is no longer in production and we have no plans to produce more of THOSE SPOTs (we can't really, as some of the parts are no longer available).

The SPOTs project is still active and working though. We haven't gone anywhere!

It is our intent to be able to sell Sun SPOTs in other parts of the world as we have in the past. There are two issues currently:
1) A very limited supply of Sun SPOTs
2) Transition to new sales channels and logistics as a result of the Oracle acquisition
These items combine to make the process not as predictable as we would like, so I don't have any dates for you. Rest assured, we are working to resolve them both. Stay tuned!

Based on the new lower pricing, I purchase a Sun Spot kit to monitor computer equipment temperatures. It was cost effective compared with commercial, targeted products.

However, I was appalled at the expensive packaging that makes up the Spot. It's excessive and completely out-of-place, IMHO, for the targeted (typical) buyer. Please, pretty please, drop the packaging and pass on the savings.

OR

Offer a "freezer bag" stuffed into a freebie FedEx envelope as a cost effective alternative to the standard overkill packaging that is standard now. IOW: Say, also available in "nasty" packing if you don't want to pay for the pretty boxes and artwork.

The latter option is also more environmentally correct IMHO and would have greater appeal to the intended (targeted) user. Heck - those users would probably encourage you to package it in toilet paper if that made the product less expensive!! :)

Regards,
