OVERVIEW Customers can now update their Autonomous Database instances from the OCPU billing model to the new ECPU billing model. The option to upgrade is on the ADB console in the section covering resource allocation:

BUSINESS BENEFIT The ECPU model offers finer-granularity pricing for resizing and auto scaling an Autonomous Database. Since backups are charged separately, there is more granular control over the backup process by setting the retention period between 1 and 60 days. Notes: The JSON Database and the APEX Service workload types only support the OCPU billing model and do not support updating an Autonomous Database instance to the ECPU billing model.

OVERVIEW You can change the backup retention period for automatic backups on Autonomous Database with a retention period between 1 day and up to 60 days. The ability to set the backup retention period is only available for instances using the ECPU compute model.
BUSINESS BENEFIT Setting the backup retention period gives customers more control over the storage costs associated with the automatic backups.

OVERVIEW Logical Partition Change Tracking (LPCT) tracks the staleness of materialized views. It evaluates the staleness of the base tables for individual logical partitions without using a materialized view log or requiring any of the tables used in the materialized view to be partitioned. LPCT can be created, modified, or dropped on the base table at any time, independent of table creation. The base table can be partitioned or non-partitioned, which makes it more adaptable than PCT. Because the LPCT framework requires metadata only and no changes to the base table.
BUSINESS BENEFIT LPCT significantly broadens the applicability of query rewrite for applications due to the fine-grained query rewrite. With LPCT, refresh operations are targeted at stale logical partitions only, improving the refresh time for materialized views and avoiding a complete re-build of the materialized view.

OVERVIEW ADB-S built-in Data Transforms tool now supports support reverse connections on private endpoint (PE), i.e. subject to customer's VCN rules when the ADB-S is configured with PE. Overall, Data Transforms is now consistent with other ADB-S components in terms of network access (e.g. db links, UTL_HTTP, UTL_SMTP, APEX PL/SQL APIs etc.)
BUSINESS BENEFIT When using ADB's built-in Data Transforms tool, all outbound connections can now be subject to the customer VCN's egress rules. This enhances the overall enterprise-level security model for Autonomous Database.
OVERVIEW The free Github-based ADB App Store is an application launchpad for pre-built applications. Using the ADB App Store, tenants can install and manage the life cycle of these applications. Currently, the Github-based ADB App Store contains the following applications, which are free to use:
NOTE: Applications within the Github-based App store are not supported by Oracle Support. Support for these apps is provided via the usual GitHub issue-tracking process and the usual caveats regarding fixes. .
OVERVIEW Many customers want an easy way to determine what resources are being used. How much do those resources cost, how are they being used, how to optimize costs using lower-cost resources, how do the OCI resource consumption and cost compare to similar resource costs in AWS, can resources be consolidated, are there any orphaned resources, and, who owns what and why?
BUSINESS BENEFIT This free application helps customers answer the typical questions listed above. The application is easy to install and is easy to use. The application analyzes cloud resource consumption and reports daily billed usage, actual resource consumption (cpu, io, network, memory), and daily costs measured against a defined budget.
