Yes, it is time to go the beach... or so they say at ODTUG. If you are not in Monterey already, maybe you can still make it? It is a great little conference and there is always lots to learn. But the one thing I like about it most is the familiar faces and the casual atmosphere. Makes learning new things just so much more fun!
So what are we up to now? Well ODTUG is a real user group, so our focus is really about sharing things we figured out over here in development. Apart from Mark Rittman's data warehouse panel, I will be doing two best practices sessions, one on data warehousing with Oracle and one on the ETL side of the house. E.g. how to best set up you ETL for Oracle.
Can't resist, for those of you who are not going, you are missing a really great conference at a most beautiful spot. Living up in the bay area makes Monterey just a short drive away. With Big Sur right down the coast, this is a truly great place to visit. The aquarium on the wharf is spectacular and the sea otters are great fun if you run into them while kayaking.
I know I said this last week, but this time I will try to update the blog on what is going on at ODTUG... and since I missed out on updating last week, just the highlights on the HP show. It all worked out very well, lots of interest overall for the HP Oracle Database Machine solution. It was great to have the machine there so that all attendees in the workshop could actually touch it. Unfortunately no one from Netezza showed up to see if we had a real machine, but then I guess the travel budgets are cut over there...
