Netezza...

It is an interesting world these days. Have been reading through the earnings call for Netezza and it was certainly interesting. Obviously it was all great, but the tone has certainly changed over the past quarter. It is a lot less brash and all of a sudden HP Oracle Database Machine is something they see a lot. That is a big change from 3 months ago, where Oracle was mostly proclaimed to be "not an issue".

Adding to that, we were at the Chicago TDWI event last month, and to our surprise Netezza did not show up. So after all their wonderful noise about how they bring real machines to the show, and paying the money to be a partner member for TDWI, Netezza was.... absent. No booth, no nothing. I guess the marketing budget did take a hit...

A weak economy (ok that is an understatement) and intense competitive pressure delaying their deals seems to really have an impact on Netezza.
