It is nearly 2 years since the introduction of the Exadata Storage Server and the Oracle Database Machine, and Oracle has now conducted hundreds of customer-specific benchmark tests on this revolutionary platform. Customers have also deployed Exadata in a wide range of production environments across numerous industries throughout the world. Oracle Database Machines have been deployed to replace virtually every major brand of computer hardware in a wide variety of system and storage configurations. This experience in benchmarking and real-world Exadata deployments, combined with the hardware benchmarking expertise from Sun Microsystems has allowed Oracle to develop analytical Exadata system-sizing models and methodologies. In this presentation, Mr. Craft will discuss the most commonly used Exadata system-sizing techniques used for replacing existing systems with an "upgrade" to Exadata and the Oracle Database Machine platform. Using these analytical techniques for system-sizing allows customers speed their time to deployment and realize the fastest time-to-value with this exciting technology.
