Data Warehousing, ODTUG and the World Cup
By Jean-Pierre Dijcks on Mar 04, 2010
It happens every four years and it happens when ODTUG is a guest in Washington DC. What is the fuss about, the FIFA World Cup is coming to ODTUG and so is data warehousing...
The world cup of course starts on June 11 in South Africa, ODTUG starts on June 27 in Washington DC. The noise in the stadiums in South Africa will be deafening because of the many Vuzuvelas that will be tooted over there. I'd be curious to see if any make to ODTUG... If they do it will be a tad noisy in any session where they are employed.
Anyhow, back to what you want to hear about, ODTUG and data warehousing and other database topics. We (as in Maria and me) will be covering a host of topics, from partitioning tips via explaining the explain plan and SQL Plan management to a 1/2 day class on Oracle data warehouse best practices. I also get to chat a bit about Hadoop and Oracle and how it all fits together (read more on some of this here and here).
I also noticed a couple of other interesting topics in data warehousing. Near and dear to my heart is the OWB talk David Allan is going to give. Should be a real fun technical deep dive into the new 11g R2 stuff he blogs about over here.
Curious and interested? Do go to the ODTUG Kaleidoscope website and have a look at all the other goodies offered. If you have never been to ODTUG, try to go this time around. It is a great conference and you will learn lots in a fun and casual atmosphere.
Looking forward to seeing some of you over there, and hoping to at least see someone with a Vuzuvela.
