The Oracle GoldenGate product team is pleased to announce the general availability of Oracle GoldenGate for Big Data 21.1.0.0.0 and will be available only on the Oracle cloud (OCI Marketplace).  


New Features in Oracle GoldenGate for Big Data 21.1.0.0.0

  • Microservices Architecture
    GoldenGate for Big Data has smaller modular applications that are decentralized for services, administration, and data management with the new Microservices Architecture adoption. It provides a browser-based user experience for the administration of components, an improved command-line interface akin to SQL*Plus, automation of tasks over REST-based APIs over HTTPS protocol, and an open framework for monitoring using custom dashboards.

  • Automatic third-party library downloader
    A simple utility is provided to find and download dependent third-party libraries directly from the internet. Specialized scripts are provided for each specialized third-party connector handler.
     
  • Partitioning for File Writer
    If the source data is partitioned by tables, then the File handler can partition data in the target data files based on keywords provided in the template.
     
  • Transactional Consistency in ADW and File Writer Handlers
    This feature is implemented in the File Writer handler and it can hold transactional boundaries when the file rolls over to newer files. This feature will split the output per table and rollover can happen on transaction boundary. 
     
  • Oracle Wallet Access in Capture
    Can now provide Oracle Wallet username and password in the Extract process (similar to Replicat).
     
  • Encryption in OCI Object Storage
    OCI encrypts all files by default. This feature allows users to provide an additional level of encryption with a user-specified key.  
     
  • Automatic Data Type Conversion
    GoldenGate for Big Data can now automatically convert character column to binary when set as PASSTHRU mode. This helps to replicate data from a source data format that has mixed character sets and needs to replicate to a target that can also support mixed character sets.
     
  • Kafka Transaction (Preview feature)
    This feature can handle Kafka transactions using both Kafka and Kafka Connect Handlers.
