Announcing OCI GoldenGate on Oracle Database@Google Cloud

We are pleased to announce that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) GoldenGate will join Oracle Exadata and Oracle Autonomous Database as part of the Oracle Database@Google Cloud partnership, allowing customers to provision a managed OCI GoldenGate service from within the Google Cloud console.

OCI GoldenGate is a fully managed service and part of the Oracle GoldenGate product family, delivering real-time trusted information across Oracle and non-Oracle data stores. For 30 years, the GoldenGate platform has provided low impact, change data capture (CDC), transactional data replication, high-speed data ingestion, data pipelines for continuous transformation and loading (CTL), and a wide variety of analytics on streaming data. With trusted, real-time, fault tolerant data replication, the data replicated by GoldenGate is continuously available ‘as-it-happens’ enabling better decisions, responsive applications, and more flexible architectures.

OCI GoldenGate Key Use Cases and Benefits

1) Faster, lower-risk database migrations to Google Cloud
OCI GoldenGate supports online migrations that can be used to eliminate downtime by keeping source and target databases synchronized during cutover. This can be used to:

  • Migrate Oracle, and non-Oracle databases from on-premises or other clouds into Oracle Database@Google Cloud
  • Replatform and modernize with minimal business disruption by validating and reconciling data before final cutover with Veridata
  • Support phased migrations where applications and data move in stages rather than “big bang”

2) Hybrid cloud and on‑premises replication for operational flexibility
Many enterprises run mixed environments. Enabling hybrid architectures for resilience, proximity to apps, and regulatory or data residency requirements. OCI GoldenGate helps replicate data across:

  • On-premises databases ↔ Oracle Database@Google Cloud and many other Google Cloud native services
  • Multi-cloud footprints where some systems remain on OCI or on-prem while others run in Google Cloud

3) Improved scalability and availability for databases on Google Cloud
OCI GoldenGate can help strengthen business continuity and reduce recovery times by supporting:

  • Active-active and active-passive bi-directional patterns to improve application availability and reduce downtime associated with planned and unplanned events
  • Offloading read-intensive workloads (e.g., reporting, extracts, downstream processing) to replicas to reduce load on primary systems

4) Real-time data delivery into analytics and data platforms (including Snowflake and BigQuery)
GoldenGate can stream change data in near real time so analytics teams have fresher data without heavy batch ETL. This supports:

  • Feeding modern analytics platforms such as Google BigQuery for cloud-scale analytics
  • Delivering operational data to cloud data platforms such as Snowflake to support governed analytics and data sharing use cases
  • Enabling near real-time dashboards, operational analytics, and event-driven architectures

5) Power AI and GenAI with real-time, trusted data

AI initiatives are only as good as the data they’re trained on and the freshness of the signals they use. OCI GoldenGate helps keep data continuously synchronized so teams can:

  • Reduce data staleness and batch-processing windows by streaming changes to platforms such as Oracle Autonomous AI Database, Google BigQuery and Snowflake for AI-ready analytics at scale
  • Feed near real-time operational data into analytics and feature stores to support model training and refresh
  • Enable low-latency inference scenarios (e.g., fraud detection, personalization, supply chain optimization) with up-to-date transactional changes

OCI GoldenGate Connectivity to Google Cloud

OCI GoldenGate in Oracle Database@Google Cloud will have feature parity with OCI GoldenGate running natively in OCI, and will have the same connectors for hundreds of data sources and targets including Google Cloud native services, and 3rd party software running on Google Cloud.

  • Google Cloud native services such as Google Cloud SQL, Google Pub/Sub, Google Cloud Storage, Google BigQuery, and Google AlloyDB
  • 3rd party technologies running on Google Cloud such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Confluent Kafka

As part of this partnership, we plan on certifying GoldenGate with Google Cloud Spanner for both capture and delivery, and augmenting GoldenGate’s existing delivery to Google BigQuery with the ability to capture from it.

OCI GoldenGate Hybrid and Multicloud Connectivity

OCI GoldenGate is seamlessly integrated with on-premises Oracle GoldenGate environments for hybrid deployments to replicate between on-premises environments and the cloud.  OCI GoldenGate in Google Cloud will also connect with GoldenGate running in Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and in the Oracle Cloud for replication across cloud vendors enabling multi-cloud architectures.

Summary

Many Google Cloud customers already use OCI GoldenGate for low-impact, optimized capture from any source database, but especially those from Oracle.  In conjunction with real-time/transactional feeds to Google Cloud based targets, the planned availability of OCI GoldenGate as part of Oracle Database@Google Cloud will enable even more integrated, high performance and real-time workloads, spanning OCI and Google Cloud for OLTP and analytics systems.
