Best Practices for Running ODI-EE in Parallel
By Dain C. Hansen on May 21, 2009
This latest article by Uli Bethke describes how to execute ELT scenarios in Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition to run in parallel to optimize performance and scalability.
In his words:
I have been working on Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) over the last three weeks. It is an extremely flexible and innovative tool. Claims by Oracle that it is up to ten times faster to develop ETL routines in ODI as compared to traditional ETL tools are actually no exaggeration.
The article specifically discusses how in ODI you can run procedures and interfaces in parallel in a Package. Using ODI you create a scenario from your Interfaces and/or Procedures, and connect these inside a Package. Then you just set the Snychronous/Asynchronous parameter in those scenarios that you want to execute in parallel to Asynchronous Mode.
For additional information on best practice approaches, take a look at the following white paper for the Best Practices for Data Warehousing using ODI to see additional details of how to make use of ODI in parallel scenarios.
