By Jeff Erickson-Oracle on Aug 04, 2010
Has Oracle snapped in the last piece of the availability puzzle? With Edition Based Redefinition (EBR), it appears they have. EBR is a new feature in Oracle Database 11g Release 2 that enables customers to upgrade their database applications while the application is still online. Here's the white paper. And here's a series of articles (part 1, part 2, part 3) that Tom Kyte wrote for readers of Oracle Magazine. In them, he explains why he considers EBR the "killer app" in Oracle Database 11gR2.

Bryn had just finished delivering a talk on EBR while wearing, for reasons he will explain, his running clothes.
