Product Name change- Oracle Spatial is now Oracle Spatial and Graph
By Mandy Ho on Aug 14, 2012
We have renamed Oracle Spatial to Oracle Spatial and Graph. We have made this change to highlight the existing graph capabilities in Oracle Spatial and in recognition of the increasing market demand for graph database capabilities. One example of this is IBM’s recent announcement of the DB2 10.1 NoSQL Graph data store, an RDF graph capability.
Oracle Database has supported native graphs as a feature since Oracle Spatial 10g. Oracle Spatial and Graph includes support for RDF semantic graphs used in social networks and social interactions to address requirements from the research, health sciences, finance, media and intelligence communities. It also includes Network Data Model (NDM) graphs used in traditional network applications in major transportation, telcos, utilities and energy organizations. These are proven, robust graph database technologies.
More information on the capabilities of Oracle Spatial and Graph option to Oracle Database can be found at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/spatial/overview/introduction/spatialandgraph-1707409.html?ssSourceSiteId=ocomen
At this time Oracle Spatial and Graph has the same pricing and features as the current Oracle Spatial. This is a product name change only.
