Our good friend Mark Townsend who recently passed away has been honored by the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) with the Ken Jacobs Award at Collaborate 12 in Las Vegas. Many of you will be familiar with Mark's work on behalf of Oracle's database community and User Groups across the globe. Mark's well deserved award was collected on behalf of his family by friend and former Oracle colleague Ken Jacobs.
Apart from his work with Oracle Database, one of Mark's abiding passions was Community Service projects. Mark personally organized and participated in many events from Second Harvest Food Sorts, Veteran Stand-Downs and Rebuilding Together Projects to Relay for Life and many others.
Mark's latest project was the Morgan Hill Relay for Life event that's happening on May 19th and would encourage you to take a few minutes to honor Mark's memory and help raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
