Kernel Cryptographic Framework FIPS 140-2 Validation

After many years of preparation work by the Solaris Crypto Team, and almost a year (just shy about two weeks) since we submitted to NIST our documentation for validation, the Kernel Crypto Framework has its first FIPS 140-2 validation completed.  This applies  Solaris 11.1 SRU 5 when running on SPARC T4, T5 (the M5 and M6 use the same crypto core and we expect to vendor affirm those), M3000 class (Fujitsu SPARC64) and on Intel (with and without AES-NI).

Many thanks to all those at Oracle who have helped make this happen and to our consultants and validation lab.

Comments:

Excellent news - congrats to the team!

Chances are I'll be using it in this mode, next year :-).
