Standards and headers

Every so often I encounter, or hear about, a problem with function definitions when the standard header files are included. Most often its mmap, but sometimes it's something else. Every time I think that I should write something up. Well, it's finally happened, a short paper on how to write portable code using the standard headers.

Comments:

Thank you for keeping an active blog. I guess you don't hear it often enough but "thank you". I check your blog often and am forever pointing to the SAP ( Solaris Application Programming ) to straighten out code bits in my life. Also, I still think that the Sun Studio compilers rock like nothing on the planet. OKay, they are not open source, ces't la vie.
Now I need to go order you new multi-core App Prog book too I guess.
Have a good day or other 86400 sec time slice.
