For our next featured 2016 Oracle Service Cloud Community All-Star, I am pleased to introduce you to Darsen Prasad from Speridian Technologies, LLC who you'll find sharing his expertise on the technical forum boards.

Get to know more about Darsen here:

Company: Oracle Platinum Partner Speridian Technologies, LLC

How and when did you first learn about Oracle Service Cloud (RightNow)?

I started as a PHP web developer, then moved to Microsoft .NET Technologies web and windows application development. Later in 2011, I got a chance to learn Oracle Service Cloud (then RightNow CX) and since then I have worked in multiple projects in implementing and supporting Oracle Service Cloud.

What is your role at Speridian? How has Oracle Service Cloud helped you in your career?

I am working as CX Consultant with Speridian, Oracle Service Cloud have given me the opportunity to work for some great clients on updating their service centers, processes, etc.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I love how my job lets me build, develop and troubleshoot different solutions for
clients. And I don't like Documentation.

What is something that you're proud of in your time of using Oracle Service Cloud?

I'm most proud of building cost-effective custom solutions within Service Cloud, like
map marking, PDF Generation, Data Integration, CTI Integration, etc.

How have you used Oracle Service Cloud to solve a business problem within your organization?

In one of my projects, I have built a Service Center Locator solution where multiple organizations can be linked to a parent organization, auto geo-coding of address, proximity search (distance from) and plotting the addresses on map. With the help of this solution, contact center agents were able to easily assist customers by directing them to nearest service center.

What is your favorite part of Oracle Service Cloud?

I enjoy working with Connect PHP, SOAP and Add-Ins.

Oracle Service Cloud in one word: CX

What advice would you give to someone who is new to Oracle Service Cloud?

To be a good developer, first you need to sharpen your skills in C#, PHP, JavaScript and SQL. Attending Oracle Training Sessions and Product Documentation will help you learn the basics. The next best place is the Community Forum, try answering the questions (don't just read, do it yourself, and test it out) and learn how the questions are resolved and just keep doing that.

Why do you participate in the Oracle Service Cloud Community?

Oracle Service Cloud is really a challenging platform with so many different ways of configuring, customizing and extending the solution. We don't always get to learn new things from the projects we work on, but we always get exposed to issues and challenges faced by developers and administrators all across the world in the Community. Trying to solve it and understanding how others resolve their issues is the best way to learn and keep yourself updated.

What are apps, software and tools (not including Service Cloud) that you can't live

Visual Studio .NET, Notepad++, OneNote, Boomerang Soap & REST Client / SOAPUI, Adobe Photoshop, and iTunes (I love listening to music to help me concentrate). smiley

What's your daily work space like?

Plain and simple, two monitors, docking station, a notebook and my water bottle to stay hydrated.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren't doing this?

Being a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications, I think I would have been working as an Instrumentation Engineer designing automated systems.

What do you like to do on your days off?

I like to do a lot, mostly reading, watching movies, sleeping and traveling. But nowadays, I mostly end up getting beaten up by my 2 year old son...and I am enjoying that also!!

Thank you Darsen for helping us get to know you better in this All-Star spotlight. Your Service Cloud Locator solution sound very slick...nice job! Also, thank you for contributing to the Community! Your peers and the Oracle Service Cloud team appreciate having experts like you who give of their experience, expertise and time to strengthen Oracle Service Cloud and the community surrounding the solution.
