Bye, bye, Core QA team

This is most probably the last post to this blog from Lukas, Jara, Tomas and Petr. The origin Core QA team members work on other parts of NetBeans IDE. Petr, Tomas and Lukas moved to the Cloud Computing QA team at beginning of year 2009. They are back in NetBeans these days but working on different projects then Core and Platform. Jara moved to new project with new responsibilities in first half of 2009 too. It means that there is no QA engineer dedicated to the Core/Platform now - please see Marian's comment explaining the situation.
However there are new community programs that might interest you if you would like to help to test or to fix something in NetBeans Platform (or NetBeans IDE)
  • NetDEV - contribute to NetBeans
  • NetFIX - fix a bug in NetBeans
  • NetCAT 6.8 - NetBeans Community Acceptance Testing Program
Good luck to NetBeans Platform, we really enjoyed the work on it. It was great ride with great community around it. I hope that there will be a chance to meet some of you - users - again. And if you will appear in Prague sometime feel free to contact us with an idea to have some beers in a pub (the worst you could hear is "no, thank you, we don't have time" ;)
Anyway, we will stay close to the NetBeans Platform in future as NetBeans IDE is based on it ;)
Comments:

"The NetBeans Platform itself is in maintenance mode for now." Strange to be told that via a blog entry by a QA engineer. Rather than officially via an announcement from the NetBeans Team. So, until officially told otherwise (i.e., NOT by you, but via an official announcement from the NetBeans Team), I'll assume that that statement is not true.

Also, strange that you mention NetFIX and NetCAT, but not the far more relevant (for NetBeans Platform developers, anyway) NetDEV:

@Peter, seems that I'll have to rephrase and enhance the blog post. Thanks for reminding me about the NetDEV. I somehow forgot about it...

@Peter: Oooo, stupid me - and you are right - PLATFORM isn't in maintenance but the APISUPPORT. Does anybody know how I could mix it in my head? Thank you for catching my "mistake". And yes, don't take the blogs "seriously", people could be wrong. This blog never wanted to be an official channel...

Hi guys,

it looks like bad news on first sight, but it turns out to be good news. At least it's good news for NetBeans. It's great that the three of you are back!

Hi Lukas, just few more corrections ....
> The Core QA team disappeared a while ago.
... 9 months ago, and we've done (mean rest of QE) our best to cover as much as possible for NB 6.7/.1 as well.

> It means that there is no QA engineer dedicated to the Core/Platform now.
... not true, we are still covering Core and there are still people assigned to test Core parts of the IDE for NB 6.8, just look at
http://wiki.netbeans.org/NB68TestingProgress

... BTW: we are also partially testing Platform and plan to invest into Binary Tests Distribution as well as to do backward compatibility testing for NB 6.8
