Over the years we’ve had many conversations across the construction and engineering industry about the costs associated with implementing new technologies.
We’ve come to understand that testing new technologies and integrations can interrupt important day-to-day operations that can slow implementation and even stymie innovation efforts.
In 2022, we opened the first Oracle Industry Lab in Chicago to enable a broad cross-section of industries to explore new technologies and innovations in a simulated worksite environment. In April 2023, we opened the second Oracle Industry Lab in Reading, UK, during the three-day Oracle Construction and Engineering Summit.
With the success of the labs in Reading and Chicago, which has welcomed more than 10,000 visitors so far, we’re pleased to announce the opening of the third Oracle Industry Lab in Sydney, Australia.
With a specific focus on the construction and engineering sector, the vision for the lab is to showcase the art of the possible rather than being a static demo or exhibition. By providing fully immersive experiences and access to Oracle subject matter experts and technology partners, construction and engineering professionals can trial new technologies and integrations.
Steven Brant, senior director of construction and engineering solutions, heads up the industry lab in Sydney.
“The lab takes an experiential approach, turning the potential of combined technologies into tangible outcomes,” Brant says. “Customers who have visited have found it more engaging than expected because it’s not simply a demonstration. Being able to actually use the different technologies and seeing how they combine, sparks ideas. So, creating meaningful integrations with Oracle and partner technologies in a space for customers to explore outside of their live environment provides immediate value for those who visit.”
While the initial build for the 368-square-meter Sydney Industry Lab was completed in 2021, rolling pandemic-related lockdowns severely limited our ability to invite customers to the space. Despite pandemic restrictions, we were able to work with over 20 different industry partners to build out a range of experiences that enable us to curate visits based on a customer’s specific safety, sustainability, quality, and productivity imperatives.
We’re proud to announce that one of our partners is Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications company. Telstra’s 5G network slicing and IoT network technologies have been enabled at the site with additional technology to be switched on over time. Telstra’s technology, in addition to our partner solutions, allows us to offer experiences across:
It is our hope that the lab enables customers to test, validate and move their technology initiatives forward with greater confidence and an enhanced awareness of just what is possible.
To schedule a visit to the lab, which is in North Ryde approximately 20 minutes by car from the Sydney central business district, simply ask your Oracle account manager and they will coordinate with the onsite lab team to curate a visit based on your specific interests.
