Oracle Data Safe delivers essential data security for Oracle Databases on the cloud, on-premises, and in Cloud@Customer deployments. We introduced Data Safe last year to help our Autonomous Database customers take care of the security we can’t do for them. Data Safe accomplishes this with an easy-to-use cloud service which requires no on-premises deployment and no security expertise to use. If you want to try Data Safe with your own databases and data, you can now do this at no cost with the Oracle Cloud Free Tier 30-day free trial.
There are data security practices that are essential for every enterprise. These include frequently assessing the security configurations of all your databases to assess risk. Likewise, user security and privileges should also be assessed to identify user risk. Visibility into the types and sensitivity of the data stored in databases is important for knowing how to manage it, as well as protecting the data in test and development environments with data masking. Finally, you need to continuously monitor the activities of database users, inspect for potential indicators of compromise and retain audit data to meet compliance requirements. These functions are delivered by Data Safe in a single, integrated, and easy-to-use console.
Data Safe provides data security for databases regardless of deployment. Oracle Autonomous Databases offer seamless integration with Data Safe, with one-click registration of database targets. As an OCI native cloud service, Data Safe connects directly to Oracle Cloud databases with private IP addresses through the private endpoint feature. Where customers have configured network peering between their on-premises networks and OCI, Data Safe can also use private endpoints to manage security for on-premises databases. Where such network connectivity is not available, the Data Safe on-premises connector establishes and maintains a secure connection between the Data Safe service and databases running on-premises, in Cloud@Customer deployments, and even in other cloud services.
You can now try Oracle Data Safe for free with your own cloud and on-premises Oracle Databases. When you sign up for a new account on the Oracle Cloud Free Tier, you get a 30-day free trial which includes Data Safe. With this trial account you can create your own Autonomous Databases, register them with Data Safe, and get started right away. You can also register one on-premises database for use with Data Safe for the duration of the free trial. We’ve even made it easy to learn how to use Data Safe with our new Oracle Data Safe Fundamentals workshop on Oracle LiveLabs. In less than two hours, this workshop takes you through the key features in Oracle Data Safe, including Activity Auditing, Security Assessment, User Assessment, Data Discovery, and Data Masking.
