Miss Oracle at RSA? Here are the Top 3 Things You Should Know

Taylor Lewis

The 2020 RSA Conference was a success once again! The Human Element theme was woven throughout the week as we saw multiple sessions around the importance of creating a security plan that is tailored to your organization and your customers.

Women in Cybersecurity Rock!

Everyone attending RSA has an interest in security, but the importance of women in security was especially strong at this year's event. Monday's Event, She Speaks Security: Amp Up Your Impact provided an extremely supportive and electric open forum between security professionals ranging from extremely technical to business facing roles. With speakers from Dark Reading, The Diana Initiative, and Carnegie Mellon University, women attending the event tackled issues such as dealing with imposter syndrome, working within male dominated teams, and listened to personal stories of challenges and success. It was a very uplifting conversation, one that I personally benefited from, and one that many others found key takeaways in. As attackers have become more motivated and well-funded than ever, it is important to have a balance of skills, diversity, and perspectives in security.

Marketplace Partners were in the Booth

This year, Oracle has continued to innovate in the cloud. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has provided customers with new opportunities to shift their customized applications, implement new solutions, and leverage the power of a hybrid cloud. Every organization has unique requirements and these requirements are often met by a combination or tools and vendors. Oracle's Marketplace offers customers a variety of options for Click-to-deploy services. At RSA this year, attendees had the opportunity to hear from three of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's Marketplace partners. For our readers who were not able to attend, check back on our Oracle Security Twitter in the coming weeks to see one on one interviews with each partner. Oracle Security is Committed to Keeping Your Data Safe

"Data never dies" is how Oracle's SVP of Database Security, Vipin Samar,  began his session to a crowded room of conference attendees. He went on to detail the importance of properly securing your data especially as attacks continue to rise. He explained that although some people have referred to data as the new oil, data is an evergreen resource that builds in value as you collect more. Insider threats and malicious attacks can provide thieves with access to personal information about you that will never change, such as your birthdate or social security number. With that data, they can create fake identities, make large purchases, and open accounts in your name. Loss of this critical data can be devastating for a brand's reputation and now, with regulations like GDPR and CCPA, they can be hit with crushing financial implications. Samar covered Oracle's Maximum Security Architecture and explain in great detail the benefits of Oracle Data Safe, a new solution available for all Oracle Cloud Databases.
