For the third year in a row, Gartner, Inc., an information technology research and advisory firm, has positioned Oracle as a leader in its 2014 Magic Quadrant for Data Masking Technology report. The report is available for download in Oracle Industry Analyst Relations internal website, under database section.
According to the report, “Adopting DM helps enterprises raise the level of security and privacy assurance. At the same time, DM helps them meet compliance requirements with the security and privacy standards recommended by regulating/auditing authorities (for example, the PCI Data Security Standard [DSS] and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act [HIPAA]). Potential abusers, who DM aims to deter, are often enterprise employees or employees of outsourcing firms, such as users of test databases (programmers, testers and database administrators) or users of analytical and training databases (analysts, researchers and trainees).”
The report also mentions, “A growing number of enterprises make Data Masking a mandatory part of their overall security strategies.”
