Oracle Data Safe: Now Globally Available

It is hard to believe that over a year has passed since Oracle OpenWorld 2019 in San Francisco when Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison announced on-stage the availability of Oracle Data Safe.

Data Safe is your single, unified, and easy-to-consume cloud service that provides database security assessments, user risk assessments, activity auditing, sensitive data discovery, and data masking, all in a single console.

We are excited to announce that Oracle Data Safe is now available in all 20 commercial Oracle Cloud regions across the globe!

Availability in all regions means that security metadata in Data Safe is colocated in the same region as the databases being secured by Data Safe.  If your databases run in one of our Australian data centers, for example, your security metadata will now remain in that region.  This means reduced latency and improved response time because all activity is local, and you also achieve local data storage for the metadata in Data Safe.

In August we announced the availability of Data Safe for on-premises databases using dedicated network connectivity solutions like FastConnect and VPN Connect. Data Safe now supports your on-premises Oracle Databases, including Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, Oracle Database Appliance, Oracle Database Enterprise Edition and Oracle Database Standard Edition.

The on-premises connector is easy to deploy. From start to finish, the process just takes about ten minutes to get up and running. A single on-premises connector can connect Data Safe to hundreds of on-premises Oracle Databases. See a demonstration of the on-premises connector in this video:

*As of this blog post’s published date, the on-premises connector is still available for testing at no cost as part of a Limited Availability program. If you want to try Oracle Data Safe with your on-premises databases using the on-premises connector, review MOS note 2699061.1 for details and to request access to the Limited Availability program.*

If you have not tried Data Safe for your databases (cloud or on-premises), or if you were concerned about response time or data sovereignty, wait no more. Contact your cloud account manager, or request a demo to see Data Safe in action.
