Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder 11.1.1.4.0 is now GA

Building upon the unique cloud enabling functionality delivered by the first release of Virtual Assembly Builder in April 2010, this new release is designed to further simplify the IT administrator's life by automating the process of moving a complete distributed multi-tier enterprise application from a physical server environment to a virtualized server pool. With the Virtual Assembly Builder, administrators can quickly capture the configuration and binaries of a customized installation of the Oracle Fusion Middleware, and create a collection of interconnected software appliances that can quickly be deployed as virtual machine instances without custom scripting or manual intervention. This new release continues to support the creation of appliances using Oracle Enterprise Linux and JRockit Virtual Edition that can be deployed onto Oracle VM 2.2. In addition, users can create appliances for the 11gR1 PS2, and PS3 versions of Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle HTTP Server, and Oracle Web Cache, and also newly create appliances for Oracle Coherence*Web 11gR1 PS3, and Oracle Database 10gR2, 11gR1, and 11gR2. Also introduced in this release are additional features like the support for External Appliances (otherwise known as "black-box" appliances), custom configuration scripts, and security enhancements like the use of custom certificates. More information can be found on OTN and the product site.
