With the Cloud Application Foundation 12c release out, you can expect an ongoing supply of best practices, tips and tricks, new feature highlights and more goodies.
Let’s check out what new resources are available to get your productivity up to new levels with WebLogic and Coherence paired up with your favorite Developer Tools.
Great whitepaper by David Felcy provides best practices on planning a successful Coherence deployment. It discusses what you should consider in terms of the JVM, monitoring tools and underlying OS when migrating, as well as planning for unexpected hardware failures and much more

In his most recent blog, Tim Middleton talks about running Managed Coherence Servers in WebLogic Server 12c. The functionality allows end users to build a new archive type (Grid Archive aka GAR), which can be deployed and managed via standard WebLogic Server best practices. Developers can now streamline their build processes to generate GARs. Operations departments can now standardize deployment of Coherence and Coherence applications in the test and production environments.
Check out this video to learn more about the integration
And OEPE 12c (12.1.2) now also supports Coherence Grid Archives (GAR) application development and deployment to WebLogic Server 12c (12.1.2). It can be deployed to WebLogic Server 12c as a stand-alone module or bundled in an EAR project. Check out this tutorial to learn more about the various GAR features available in OEPE.
Cool New Capabilities
Well, this one also offers a huge productivity boost for administrators, but it’s also one of my favorite new capabilities in WebLogic 12.1.2 – Dynamic Clusters. Read the blog by Dave Cabelus which talks about how we’ve made it really easy to initially roll out a new cluster, and scale it out.
Dave also recorded a great video to show you what it looks like
But there are many more cool capabilities in WebLogic 12.1.2. To get the full scoop, check out the new technical whitepaper by Will Lyons covering WebLogic Suite. It is available here.
