...this is just the beginning; much more to come!

AUTHOR: AMIT ZAVERY, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, ORACLE CLOUD PLATFORM

It was a whirlwind of a week, and the weeks leading up to it were no different, but what I will remember most about Oracle OpenWorld 2017 are the customers, partners, press and analysts’ discussions and their sense of enthusiasm, and excitement about the technology innovations from Oracle. This year I was especially proud of how we showcased our INNOVATION!  Innovation, not just from our engineering teams but also from our customers and partners who are using Oracle Cloud Platform in unique and, often, inspiring ways.

Over and over I heard customers comment about how their organizations are transforming their organizations with Oracle Cloud.   At our annual Oracle Cloud Platform Innovation Awards Event, we had a chance to honor many of these customers –organizations of all sizes and spanning across industries and countries. Among the recipients were Anthem, AT&T, Australian Finance Group, LinkedIn, National Pharmacies, Santander, Subaru of America, Veritone and many others, also featured in this Press Release: Oracle Announces 2017 Cloud Platform Innovation Award Recipients

Alongside our customers and partners, Oracle has embraced the Cloud journey. We have adopted modern, open and agile development cycles and are delivering comprehensive, open, integrated and easy to use cloud platform that meet the needs of IT, Developers and line of business. In his keynote, Oracle President Thomas Kurian shared highlights across Oracle’s Integrated Cloud Platform (press release here)

I was personally very proud of the latest innovations we introduced across Oracle’s PaaS and IaaS offering around AI, API Management, Application Development, App Integration, Big Data Platform, Blockchain, Business Analytics, Chatbots, Data Integration, IoT, Management, Security and much more. Here are just a few of the press releases:

The excitement and energy at this year’s Oracle OpenWorld was felt everywhere with “standing room only” or “overflow rooms” to accommodate interest from the Oracle OpenWorld attendees.

This was exactly what happened at our Oracle Code Keynote session where we had over 1500+ attendees. As part of this keynote, we had a chance to showcase number of demos and overviews of our latest developer tools that include API design and management, Chatbots, Blockchain, and their “serverless” offerings.  I also had a chance to invite Slack’s Buster Benson, head of product, on stage to share more about Slack’s messaging platform and how our Intelligent Bots capabilities are tightly integrated with the Slack messaging platform.

It was gratifying to see the continued enthusiasm of developers and interest in Oracle’s standards based solutions and commitment to supporting Openness and Choice.

At OOW17, Oracle’s innovations came to life as the team showcased these solutions with an end-to-end real world scenario with mobile chatbots, blockchain, integration, big data management and security management in my Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) strategy and roadmap session. And, I’d be remiss not to thank Brian Simmermon, VP & CIO of Subaru of America, Inc., who made it from the airport just 5 minutes before the session to share the company’s incredible Cloud transformation story.

Here’s a video of the session for those interested.

The Emerging Technologies session showcasing our latest transformative technologies was also met with equal enthusiasm by the OpenWorld attendees.

As you can see, this OOW17 was exceptional! In case you missed something at Oracle OpenWorld 2017, be sure to catch the on-demand webcasts of our Keynotes and General Sessions at: https://www.oracle.com/openworld/on-demand.html
