We are pleased to announce the general availability of a new OCI Multicloud Architect course and certification. This certification is ideal for cloud architects interested in designing and building multicloud solutions utilizing Oracle services.

Multicloud – the new normal

In today's fast-paced business environment, organizations are increasingly adopting cloud technologies from multiple vendors to meet their IT needs. By distributing workloads across multiple clouds, organizations can achieve higher levels of resiliency, reduce risk, and optimize costs. Multicloud solutions also enable organizations to avoid vendor lock-in and provide the freedom to choose the best services from different cloud providers.

Multicloud is becoming the new normal because it offers numerous benefits to organizations. With multicloud becoming more prevalent, it is essential for IT professionals to develop skills and expertise in managing and implementing multicloud environments.

The need for Multicloud Architects

As organizations increasingly adopt multicloud solutions, the need for cloud architects who possess the skills and knowledge to design and manage multicloud environments is growing rapidly. Certified multicloud architects can provide valuable expertise in selecting and integrating the best cloud services from multiple providers. Here are some key reasons why architects should be certified on multicloud solutions:

  • Multicloud solutions require a comprehensive understanding of multiple cloud providers: Designing and managing a multicloud environment requires a deep understanding of multiple cloud technologies. Architects must be able to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each cloud provider and select the best services to meet specific business requirements.
  • Multicloud solutions require a broad set of cloud services: Multicloud environments require a wide range of cloud services, including networking, compute, security, storage, and database services. Architects must be able to design and implement effective multicloud solutions that leverage these services.

Oracle Multicloud Solutions

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure offers a unique multicloud offering that sets it apart from other cloud providers. Oracle's multicloud strategy is designed to provide customers with the flexibility and choice to deploy their workloads on any cloud. OCI provides a wide range of interoperability features, including cross-cloud networking, hybrid identity, and integrated workload migration. Oracle Multicloud services include Oracle Database Service for Azure, Oracle Interconnect for Azure and Oracle MySQL Heatwave on AWS and Azure – providing customers the choice to select the best cloud provider for their applications and databases.

In 2019, Oracle and Microsoft Azure announced a groundbreaking partnership to provide customers with a unique multicloud offering. As part of this partnership, Oracle became the first cloud provider to offer a cross-cloud interconnect between its cloud platform and Azure.

Building on the success of its cross-cloud interconnect with Microsoft Azure, Oracle launched the Oracle Database Service for Azure in 2022. Oracle Database Service for Azure is an Oracle-managed service for Azure customers to provision, access, and operate enterprise-grade Oracle Database services in OCI with a familiar Azure-like experience.

OCI Multicloud Architect Certification

The OCI Multicloud Architect certification focuses on building skills for designing and implementing multicloud solutions leveraging OCI services. By attaining this certification, individuals can showcase advanced knowledge and skills in designing and implementing Oracle multicloud solutions.

In this course, learners will discover the benefits of multicloud and its use cases. They will also learn about the core OCI services required for multicloud solutions, including OCI Identity and Access Management (IAM), Virtual Cloud Network (VCN), and OCI Database services such as Autonomous Database, Base Database, and MySQL Database. The course also covers multicloud network connectivity, including Site-to-Site VPN and FastConnect, as well as OCI-Azure Interconnect. Learners will learn how to implement and manage Oracle Database Service for Azure and configure common Oracle Database Service for Azure management tasks.

The Multicloud Architect certification exam assesses learners’ understanding of these topics and their ability to implement them in practical settings. Here is a breakdown of the exam objectives:
