Where do cycle accidents happen?

Now here is a step in the right direction from the Government. They have just published the location of all the injury accidents where pedal cycles were involved for the years 2005-2007.

You can downlown load a spreadsheet that contains them here: http://innovate.direct.gov.uk/2009/03/10/pedalling-some-raw-data/. I now have to work out what to do with them to plot them on a map. I'm still a bit amazed at this openness.

Comments:

Haven't looked at the stats yet, but I wonder if they explain the cause of the accidents as well as their location, and whether they're similar to the figures here -

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0211/1233867931746.html -

~75% of cyclists killed in Dublin were due to HGVs turning left. Perhaps there's a correlation between the accidents and presence of left turns, for example?

This cries out for a google earth plugin :D
Im guessing that one such hotspot would be Greater London - more specifically TFL busroutes /rant
