Changing your smoke alarm batteries

I've just watched the news of the tragic fire in which three children died in Manchester. While I have no idea whether there was or was not a smoke alarm in the house it did get me thinking. So here his my idea for the folks who run http://www.firekills.gov.uk since they don't seem to have a feedback option.

Add a way to register an email address. You can then send an email once a year (no more, no spam) saying:

It is a year since you replaced the batteries in your smoke alarms. Please replace them now.

I'm sure they can find a word smith to get make the point better. It should take a day to set up.

I'll follow this up.

Comments:

Out here folks are encouraged to change their batteries on entering or exiting daylight savings, ensuring they are changed twice a year.
