"LinkedIn has continued to see incredible growth among professionals spanning all sectors looking to build and leverage their networks. As a leader in our field, we are committed to providing the best service to our users, and a web experience that meets members expectations and that starts with IT," said Jean-Luc Vaillant, Chief Technology Officer, LinkedIn. "The combination of Sun and MySQL means quicker access to the latest innovation in an open and reliable environment and this saves me time and money."

Sun's Virtualization Strategy

Over the weekend, InfoWorld's David Marshall blogged about Sun's virtualization strategy. A week or so ago, we previewed Sun xVM Infrastructure -- Sun's open, cross platform virtualization and datacenter-on-demand management platform -- comprised of the following components:
  • Sun xVM Server: A cross-platform, high-efficiency, open-source hypervisor capable of running Windows, Linux and Solaris guest OS instances.
  • Sun xVM Ops Center: a complete, highly-scalable management environment for the provisioning and administration of both physical and virtualized datacenter infrastructure running across multi-vendor x86/64 and SPARC systems, as supplied by HP, IBM, Dell, Fujitsu and Sun.
Sun's virtualization strategy simplifies management (of business, applications, and data) to improve ROI and business agility, optimize efficiency and utilization and cut costs by extending virtualization across the entire IT infrastructure -- from desktops, servers, OS, appliances, storage and the network.

Check out thoughts of Tim Marsland, Sun fellow and CTO of Software, on Sun's virtualization roadmap here. And previews of Sun xVM is coming soon to a server near you... :-)
