Do we know anything about Java EE 7 certifications?

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, February 24, 2017

Unfortunately, we don't have an update on Java EE7 certifications yet.

Can you please let me know if there will be a 12c version of below exam:

Oracle Database 11g Security Essentials 1Z0-528

I have been hesitant to take the above exam because I am waiting for a 12c version to become available. Can you please confirm whether there are plans to introduce a 12c version of the above exam?

    Many thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, March 10, 2017

At this time, there is not a 12c version planned.

    I have a question.

I'm preparing the 1Z0-068 (Oracle Database 12c: RAC and Grid Infrastructure Administration) and hope to take it during june 2017.

For now, it is validated for database version

12c release 2 has been released few time ago.

Do you know if the exam would be update to 12c release 2 in the next few months?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards.

At this time, I don't have any info on a 12c R2 version of this certification. As far as I know, it is not yet in development.

I really wanted to get certified in Java EE but Oracle's lack of commitment on updating Java EE certifications to Java EE 7 makes it obvious they don't care about Java EE certifications anymore.

Java EE 6 was released 8 years ago and Java EE 7 was released 4 years ago... if Oracle doesn't care about their Java EE certifications why should I? It's better to spend my money on other Java technologies like Spring.

Is there a timeline / a date when Java EE 7 certifications will be provided?

I already have the JPA and the EJB vertification for JEE6. Generelly I would like to move on (1Z0-897 followed by 1Z0-807) - but to me it does not make since to make JEE6 certification as it gradually become outdated.

I'm sorry, but I do not have any info on Java EE7. This has been under discussion for some time, but I don't have a development timeline or any additional information at this time.

Brandye, I know you're not in the position to decide over Java EE certifications but I think you should ask your superiors to let you notify everybody that Oracle is no longer interested in Java EE and that there won't be any new certifications related to Java EE.

This is what I reply every time I see this question, it keeps coming again and again in Java forums. I don't think it's fair to just keep saying that there's no information when your superiors know the real answer.

What is the purpose of not telling the truth? keeping people paying for an outdated certification? If Oracle wants to keep people paying for those certifications at least try to disguise it with a different name, drop the '6" from the name or change the name to something else.

I just think it's totally unacceptable that after so many years the official answer is to keep saying "there's no information" when Java EE already moved to the Eclipse Foundation while other certifications get updates much more frequently. It's unfair for Oracle's clients who ask for professionals with certifications and it's unfair for all the professional that help Oracle make money by learning and using Oracle's technologies.

    Hi Robert,
I know that there is frustration around the release of Java EE 7 certifications, but what you are saying is untrue. These exams are currently in development. Granted, they have been in development for quite a long time, but there has been more movement on them lately. I just don't have any information on when they'll be released.
