Hi everyone,
Welcome to the new Oracle Certification Program Blog. We hope that you’ll enjoy this as a great way for those of us on the Oracle Certification team to share information and updates into what’s going on in the program.
Because we here at Oracle are hard at work each day to maximize the value of your Oracle certification, we look forward to sharing insights with you about what we are doing and why are doing it.
Several weeks of brainstorming amongst the certification team has resulted in a list of topics that we feel I should discuss in the blog. Honestly - this list got pretty long. Sparing you the lengthy details, here are a few examples:
- What is the Oracle program doing to help curb cheating?
- What is the real value of certification?
- How should I go about studying for the Oracle exams?
- My certificate took longer than I expected to arrive. Why?
- Why does Oracle have a training requirement?
- What should I do if I have a problem?
I look forward to covering not only these topics, but many more as well. Watch for new posts once or twice per week. My hope that it will give you some good insight to the ‘behind the scenes’ workings of the Oracle Certification Program.
For comments, ideas, and/or suggestions, please email us at paul-blog_ww@oracle.com.

Now I'm studying for 1z0-141.
Did I hear that the review questions are obsolete?
Also, is there another path for OCP besides 1z0-141?
Thanks for hosting this Blog.

for Exam Number1Z0-147(Program with PL/SQL)

Does this mean same exam code is applicable for 9i and 10g exam? Moreover, are the question sets same for these versions?
How can one opt for 9i 0r 10g as same exam code is ther? What is the difference in these versions paper?
Please enlighten me on this.

I'v successfully gone through ORACLE 9i schedule [on LINUX REHL#4] at M/s. SQL* International, New Delhi. M/s. SQL* International is a channel partner of ORACLE corp. Additionally I had a workshop on ORACLE DISCOVERER Business Intelligence tool. For past 4 years I'm working in ORACLE 8i + D2K 4.5 on WinServer2000, ORACLE 8i + Forms 6i on WindowsXP, ORACLE 9i + Discoverer on RHEL#3 in 3 different softwares with OLTP, OLTP and Warehousing requirements respectively for my company. I'v still not gone in for my certification.
Is it worth going in for certification? If yes, what all certifications will fetch me Global Career opportunities? Would it be good to combine FORMS 6i Developer and Java Developer in my Qualifications? I'v some exposure of programming with FoxPro, PL/SQL and VB
Currently I'm working for a Public Sector Company and feel that I'm not drawing as much package in accordance with my skill set. However, I'm not a Science graduate and that proves a stepping stone.
Please reply

As I have both Developer and DBA OCP Certifications. I can say that it is all matter of deciding what career path you are pursuing decides the OCP Exam to be taken.
I personally believe that if you are a Developer and development DBA. It is very good to get some education towards Oracle Database Administration and then practice a lot all the DBA activities on a PC to get some understanding. This gives you a very good start to pursue OCP DBA Certification. Also subscribe to otn.oracle.com to get more information on DBA articles.
Remember that OCP Cerification is just a start but it is very essential to get all the information. As it covers all aspects of DBA job role which normally a development DBA may not be able to experience in reality.
Best of luck !

Sandeep

Congratulations on your degree. This is a great accomplishment!
The next few blog posts (after this one) discuss using certification to build your career. I suggest that you take a look. Your CS degree is a great addition and a great start. Certification is another important step. Additionally you should look to gain some experience, hone your communication skills and build your network.
There are a number of Oracle-related professionals that read this blog. I hope that some of them will comment on their perspective of their careers as DBAs, Developers or Implementation Consultants.
If anybody can help me in clearing my doubts regarding OCA certification it would be appreciable. I am planning to do OCA certfication as an application developer in Oracle 9i. What i understood from various sites is that i have to first appear for exam IZ0 007 following another exam, here is where i am stuck up . I am not clear which is the second exam i have to prepare for . On some site i can find second exam as IZ0 031 wheras other sites shows IZ0 147. Please help me in selection of appropriate exam number.

To earn the Oracle9i Database Administrator Certified Associate ()CA), there are two steps you must take:
(1) Take any one of four exams (your choice): 1Z0-001 (Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL), 1Z0-007 (Introduction to Oracle9i SQL), 1Z0-047 (Oracle Database SQL Expert), or 1Z0-051 (Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I).
(2) Take 1Z0-031 (Oracle9i Database: Fundamentals I)
Good luck!

After completion "1Z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL" exam I had not received any hardcopy of certificate ....if i complete PL/SQL then i think i will receive. If anyone knows the exact name of PL/SQL exam please let me know.
How do the OCA/OCP/OCM/OCE certifications and those done through OPN like some Sales Champion Certification differ? I know it greatly adds value to the Partner organization but I would like to know what exactly is the real value of certification done through OPN from an individual's point of view?
Expecting a quick and positive reply.

I cannot use Oracle University. I have to pay for this out of my own pocket and have limited means.
I have been to the Oracle Workforce Development Program site (https://workforce.oracle.com) and reviewed all the providers in Texas.
What can I do to achieve the certification given that I can't find a classroom training I can afford?

Regarding your question on which exams you need to take for a PL/SQL certification, you can check on our website at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155 for the PL/SQL certification paths. You may also contact ocpexam_ww@oracle.com for further information.
Regarding your question about exam 147: The 147 exam is one single exam. It has been validated against both the 9i and 10g courses. There is not a 9i and a 10g version of this exam. Either the 9i or the 10g courses will help you to prepare for this exam. If you will notice, the PL/SQL Developer OCA certification is not version-specific.

Brandye
I have cleared 3 papers in OCP track (intr to 9i SQL IZO-007, 9i DB Fund-I IZ0-031 & 9i Performance Tuning IZ0-033). The last paper on this track is 9i DB Fund-II IZ0-033.
I wrote well, but failed.
Later came to know that I have to register for atleast 1 paper in this track. Is it true? Why not Oracle put a check and stop me from taking the exam? It is total waste of time and money.
Thanks,
Rajini

When opting for OCA there are multiple choices.Like one may go for oracle 11i,oracle 10g,Oracle 9i.
All of them have different tests to attempt.
Can anybody please elaborate on which exam exactly would be beneficial and why.
Getting certified on latest technology i.e Oracle 10g /Oracle 11i would help or Oracle 9i holds the same importance?
Good luck!

Is there a cheaper alternative to the oracle approved courses for OCP 10g DBA certification? I have completed the test but can't afford the price for the course.
I am working on the Oracle Identity Manager since past 1 year. I wish to be certified in this. So, I searched a lot if Oracle has any certification test/program for this but could not find any.
Can anyone please let me know, if Oracle is planning to start any certification in OIM? If yes, how long it will take to be available for registration? If no, then are there any other OIM related certifications available?
Thanks,
Kulesh...
There is currently no OIM certification under the Oracle Certification Program and there are currently no plans to create an OIM certification. You can always find the most up-to-date information on available certifications and upcoming certifications on the Oracle Certification Website at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=39.

why sql stat and other oracle partners do not provide 10g/11g OCA/OCP training in kolkata??
For all training queries, your local OU representative will be best able to assist. You can find the correct number at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=225.

I have completed my IZO-007,IZO-147 and I got OCA.
I am planning to prepare for OCP .
In the exam path I saw IZO-146 syllabus and started searching for material.
But I couldn't found any material or books for this IZO-146.
Could you please suggest me the book name or material.
Thanks in advance

Recently I appeared for OCP IZO - 050 11g Upgrade Exam but failed. I got 48 % and passing marks were 61 %.
I observed that this exam had 79 questions in 1hr. 45 minutes instead of usual 60 questions....also the questions were very difficult and lengthy.
Please suggest how to study for this exam and whether I should retake this exam soon ?
Regards,
Manish.
This page will also provide you the best possible guidance on when you will be ready for the next exam, as it specifically lists each exam objective. My recommendation is to carefully assess your knowledge and skills against each of these objectives.
Good luck!
I am OCP 8.0 Certified and want to upgrade to OCP 11g with status of OCP 8,8i,9i,10g,11g.
Can i appear directly in OCP 11g exams for as said above?
Is there any way other than 1). IZ0-035 and IZ0-050.
Thanks
i want to know about oracle certification exams, how to start preparing and what is the fees and the schedule of exams.. can i get any free books onlin to study.. please help me
Thank you!
Which is better - start with oracle 9i and then upgrade to 10g or just go for Oracle 10g?
However, if you took the 9i /10g upgrade route, it would be 5 exams but you would actually come out of it with 3 certifications (9i OCA,9i OCP, 10g OCP).
It might be good to check with some of the folks over on the OTN Certification Forum for some peer advice and experiences as well. Good luck!
I would say that the mechanism to get the access to CertView is prone to create problems.
I tried the first time to access the CertView on Sep, 30th and still have problems (I posted in right place the details).
I would suggest to find a better way to manage the link process which could save time.
Thanks

First I completed Ist and IInd papers training in Oracle 9i from UPTEC, Kanpur which is the only Oracle Authorised and APPROVED TRAINING centre in Kanpur. I recieved the OCA certificate within one month of giving the IInd exam paper. For the OCP classes they had no Certified Teacher. So after that I studied the IIIrd and IVth paper of Oracle 9i from private teacher who was OCP in 9i and 10g and gave the exams from UPTEC, Kanpur. He was working in a Pharma Company as System Administrator in Kanpur at that time. Now he too has left Kanpur to some unknown destination. So I seek your help and advice.
I hope I am not disturbing you.
Thanks

I am about to start my OCA studies, but am wondering what the best resource is? I have attended a 10g Admin Workshop I class at a training provider, and own a copy of the Oracle Press "OCP Certification All-in-One Exam Guide". Will studying 'Part I' of the book cover all the topics currently in exam 1Z0-042?
I was considering buying the self study NetG CD-ROM's, but am wary of doing this if they do not cover all the material.
If neither of these cover all the material, can you reccomend a resource that does? I would like to be able to have a definitive item that I can say 'this is it', and get started!
Thanks
Gary

I've got the cool e-mail from OCP Team:
"Please note that exam 1Z0-042 Oracle Database 10g: Administration I is updated as 1Z0-942 Oracle Database 10g OCA Exception to SQL Requirement to provide you the Oracle Database 10g OCA Exception to SQL Requirement, since you have completed your exam before 01 December, 2008.
Kindly revert if you have further queries on this.
Regards,
OCP Team"
I "kindly reverted" and noted that my original exam “1Z0-042 Oracle Database 10g: Administration I” record was replaced with the fake "1Z0-942 Oracle Database 10g OCA Exception to SQL Requirement" record.
Does it mean that any original historical record created in your certification database before December 1st, 2008 was (is) replaceable?
Could you say "Hello" to our glorious OCP Team?
Thanks,
VT
I noted that "...exam 1Z0-042 Oracle Database 10g: Administration I is updated as 1Z0-942 Oracle Database 10g OCA Exception to SQL Requirement to provide you the Oracle Database 10g OCA Exception to SQL Requirement, since you have completed your exam before 01 December, 2008."
I have only one suggestion: The historical records created in your certification database (on, before, and after December 1st, 2008) should be read-only.

I have successfully completed my Oracle 9i SQL and PL/SQL certification exams in august 2010. I have 2 questions to ask you..
1. I have not received the hard copy of OCA certificate from the university. When will I get the certificate?
2. Is there any validity/expiry date to the above certifications?
I already have an account in oracle as well as in pearsonvue.. but I couldn't get proper information on the certification status.
Please reply.
You should recieve the certificate approximately 6-8 weeks after completing the final certification requirement. Please login to certview.oracle.com to ensure that the certification has been granted and that the kit has been mailed. If CertView indicates that the kit has been mailed and you have not yet received it, please contact ocp-fulfillment_ww@oracle.com to inquire about having the kit reshipped. They will ask you to confirm that your address is correct in your Pearson VUE profile.
To answer your second question, there is no expiration date on certifications. Once you become certified you retain that certification, it does not expire.

There are no upgrade paths for OCA. You will need to either become 9i OCP and upgrade to 11g or go ahead and follow the full 11g OCP path (which requires 11g OCA as a prerequisite).
You can find information on the 11g DBA OCP certification path as well as upgrade paths on our webstie www.oracle.com/education/certification.

I just completed two certifications tests: “1Z0-047 Oracle Database SQL Expert” and “1Z0-144 Oracle Database 11g Program with PL/SQL”. The first I passed, but only by one point. The second I failed by three points. I am certain that my scores would have been significantly higher had I had more time.
Let’s do the math. 1Z0-047 had 70 questions. Two hours (120 minutes) were allowed. Since each question had at least four choices (some had more), I was allowed about 26 seconds to review each option. Keep in mind, about 75% of the questions required me to review a section of code, and often the structure of one or more tables, before I could intelligently evaluate the options.
1Z0-144 was much worse. It had 80 questions, and allowed only 90 minutes. That’s 17 seconds per option! And like the first test, most of the questions required me to review code and table structures before I could evaluate the choices. I worked as quickly as I could, but was not able to complete the test. I answered the last eight questions almost blindly.
I have been working with PL/SQL since it first came out (20 years ago?). And I’ve been working with SQL even longer. I studied extensively for each test. I’m not saying I would have aced the tests if I had had more time, but I certainly would have passed the tests.
I would be very interested to learn the score distributions on those particular tests. At $195 a pop, I expect a test to be validated and beta tested. I don’t see how these tests could have passed beta testing with such unreasonable time constraints.
Could you let me know how I could get the oracle BEA Certification logos? One of my friend has just passed the web logic exam and bads needs it

If your friend has passed the WebLogic Exam, he should be able to login to his account at certview.oracle.com and download the logo(s) for the certification(s) that he holds. If he needs assistance in accessing his CertView account, he can contact ocpexam_ww@oracle.com.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Please do not set up a new account. You should contact Pearson VUE to assist you with locating your login details, including your Oracle Testing ID. Taking exams under different accounts can cause you to not receive your certificates.
You can contact Pearson VUE at http://www.pearsonvue.com/contact/asiapac/customerservice/
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
First - You can view your complete exam and certification history in CertView.
Regarding your new Pearson VUE ID, you can request Pearson VUE to merge your two IDs at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact. Though this is not entirely necessary as long as you do not use the new account to take any exams.
If you need further support with this issue, please contact ocpexam_ww@oracle.com.

i wanted to ask whether OCA 1Z0-007 certfication is a prerequisite for giving the exam OCA 1Z0-042,or else one can give OCA 1Z0-042 certfication exam directly???
Just to clear up a confusion, the items that you mention in your post are exams and not certifications. Those two exams taken together, result in a certification, but those are exams. It is not required to take the 007 exam before the 042 exam, but you will receive the 10g DBA OCA certification only after you have passed the 042 exam as well as a SQL exam (007, 047, or 051).

I have a question related to oracle exam: 1Z0-001 (Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL).
On July 08, 2008 i have passed exam 1Z0-001 (Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL). This year I would like to continue examination on OCA.
Question is: can I continue with an examination on 1Z0-147(Program with PL/SQL), or I must first pass 1Z0-007 (Introduction to Oracle9i SQL) and only then I can continue on exam 1Z0-147 (Program with PL/SQL).
Does my passed exam 1Z0-001 is still valid to continue with next exam as 1Z0-147?
Best regards
I have ten years of experience in Oracle ERP, I have mainly worked in SCM and P2P technical areas (workflow, oracle reports, interfaces, bolt on packages, unix script). I have good exposure to oracle framework as well. My experience is from 11.5.6 to 11.5.10.
At present I don't have any oracle certification with me. I have just hands on experience which I have gathered while working with different projects for prestigious clients eg, unisys, applied materials, walkers, O2 etc.
I've recently moved to dubai, and would like to gearup myself with the latest knowledge/certification here for getting the good job in the IT market.
I want to get into techno - functional role..what should be the good track for me...please suggest as per dubai job market.

I would like to ask about 1ZO-O47 Oracle Database SQL Expert Exam. I am a Sr. Java developer who use SQL a lot. I also developed reports, write PL/SQL troubleshooting SQL performance.
I am wondering if
1. this exam is designed to developer like me
2. this exam is considered "expert or intermediate" or "beginer"
My goal is to get a certification(if it exist) that is considered for experienced SQL user.
Other exam recommendation is welcome as well.
Have a good day!
Your 1Z0-001 exam results are still valid and will count toward your PL/SQL Developer OCA certification. You may go ahead and take the 1Z0-147 exam - no need to take another SQL exam. You can see these details on our website at http://bit.ly/fnzPpk.

We typically do not assign 'levels' to our exams. This certification falls under the 'Expert' category of certification which basically means that it is more niche oriented – based upon specific products or technologies rather than broad job roles. You can get a good idea of who the exam is geared toward by taking a look at the exam topics http://bit.ly/eiewOG.
Though we do not assign levels to our exams, I can tell you that this exam is quite hard. One other piece of information that may help you make a decision is that this exam counts toward the SQL exam requirement in several OCA paths. So, you will take this exam and receive a certification, but you will also be on your way to expanding your certification portfolio.
I also welcome anyone in the field who has taken this exam and obtained this certification to weigh in.

Is there a cheaper alternative to the oracle approved courses for OCP 10g DBA certification? I have completed the test but can't afford the price for the course.
Hi! Is there not so expensive oracle cources for DBA? It's a real problem for me to purchase the cource for its price. Will be there any cuts of prices?
You can check on courses through Oracle Workforce Development Program https://workforce.oracle.com/pls/wdp/new_home.main or Oracle Academy https://academy.oracle.com/ if they are available in your region. You could also check with Oracle Univeristy http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=225 to see if they have any available discounts.

Hi,
I am working as Software Programmer in one of the reputed MNC.
In December,2010 I have written OCA-1ZO-007 (SQL) exam and cleared it.
But due to various commitments and personal problems couldn't write PL/SQL exam in order to complete OCA certification.
Can I take only PL/SQL exam to complete OCA certification ? or should I start from the basic exam (SQL-1ZO-007) ? Please help me on this.
Thanks,
Jayaram
Jayaram,
Since you have taken the 007 exam already, it is not necessary to retake this exam. You can move on to the next exam in order to become certified.

Guest,
1)Without any identifying information at all, it is difficult to check with the support team to see what the issue may be.
2) I believe that the issue may be that during the transition period, there was a delay in getting kits shipped. I'm surprised that the support team has not yet responded. Their turn-around time is typically within 3 business days. If you have waited 3 business days and have not yet received a response, please contact them again, marking your email "Urgent, waiting XX days for response."

Would you please tell me how many certificates for SQL Expert have been awarded by Oracle (worldwide)? Thank you.

Hi Stacy,
I'm sorry, but it's against Oracle's policy to release numbers on specific certifications. I can tell you that we have over a million and a half folks certified worldwide (across all Oracle Certifications).

Hello.
I have successfully passed SQL Fundamentals I exam recently and my new aim is Administration I. I purchased necessary 1z0-052 exam guide by John Watson, however without practice it is impossible to neither get skills nor pass exam. Will it be enough to try applying everything that is in a book on Oracle XE 11g that was published recently? There are different versions of Oracle that are available for download but I am not really sure which is enough for preparation. I kindly ask you to advise me the necessary applications, systems that could help me to get skills for both certification and real practice.

Hello,
I have basic knowledge of SQL commands..
Which certification should be done to begin a career within Oracle applications?
Are 1Z0-047 and 1Z0-147 good to start with ?
Thanks,
Gauri,
There are numerous Oracle Applications certifications. The path you mention is a developer path and falls more under Middleware (arguably Database). You can have a look at available Oracle Certifications on our website certification.oracle.com. Click on the 'Certifications' tab at the top of the page and select 'ALL CERTIFICATIONS.' This will give you a comprehensive list of available certifications.

Hello Paul, I am interested in doing global certification in oracle. I stay at Calcutta, West Bengal, India. I am doing a course in oracle 10g from NIIT. I am concerned about the fact that oracle 11g is in the market and that oracle 10g will soon be outdated. My institute does not teach oracle 10g. Is there way that I can clear 11g certification exam after completing my tog course and studying some additional 11g books?
Please advise.
Subhobrata,
In order to obtain the OCP DBA certifiction in 11g, you will need 11g training. 10g won't count. A possible option for you, since you are completing the 10g training is to obtain the 10g OCA and OCP certification using the training that you are obtaining to complete the training requirement and then upgrade to 11g DBA OCP via a single upgrade exam. This way you'll have both certifications and will not need to pay for additional training.

Hi i am mca and recently i gone through a training in 11 g dba now i am preparing for my oca 1st paper izo 051 please suggest me the book to study for the exam.and i have heard that there are no of dumps avalaible online is they useful? And is the 1st paper izo 051 is tuff?
Hi Paul
Before nothing, congrats for the job you have been doing for the Oracle Certification Program. My lines are going to be short.
I have worked for Oracle Technology from about more than 10 years ago, I have done jobs in more than 10 countries and I see that in most job offers for DBA the 3 main components or knowledge requested are: RAC, RMAN & Dataguard. I am expert on those 3 areas but in this moment I can show to the market that I am expert in RAC through my certifies in RAC and obviously when I am working in the client but in the case of RMAN or Data Guard is more complex because there is not certification specially for those 2 areas.
Those 2 areas area hardly tested on the Oracle Certified Master exam and if you are Master, it means you are expert on those areas as well but a lot of employers does not know the contents to be evaluated in the OCM Exam.
Always, I have asked myself "Why there is not certifies for RMAN & Data Guard...?". I would like to have the opportunity to see certification related to those areas in the Oracle Certification Program.
Thanks Paul

@Zubair,
First, you should know that using dumps is cheating. I urge you not to use dumps to help you prepare for the exam, but to study and prepare on your own. You should have a look at our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C. You will find some good suggestions for books and exam prep help with a simple search there.
@Joel,
Thank you for your detailed thoughts and feedback. I will pass this information along to our exam developers. We appreciate this type of feedback from the field!

i have passed 1z0-047 a couple of days back and got my marksheet.
i want to get my oracle certificate however unable to get the path.
can any one help me out........:)
Manikanta, you do not receive a certificate for passing the 051 exam. In order to obtain the 11g DBA OCA, you will still need to pass the 052 exam. If you need a copy of your score report, you can get that from pearsonvue.com/oracle.
Saurabh, you should go to our website at certification.oracle.com>Preparation>FAQ>Certificate and Logo>and expand the question " I completed all the required exams in my certification track. How and when will I receive my certificate?"

Hi Paul,
I recently took the Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator Upgrade Exam and have not received my certificate. I am being told that I will not receive a certificate since I had passed the SUN Solaris 10 exam in 2007. My purpose for taking the exam is that I haven't worked with Suns in about 5 years and was wanting to show potential employers that I still have the knowledge and can pass the exam. I need this certificate! Can this issue be resolved and my certificate issued and the database updated to reflect that I received the Upgrade Certification?
Also, what is the escalation process for problems?

Hi,
I cleared 1Z0-007 exam in 2006. I could not complete the 1Z0-031 exam then. I am planning to go for 1Z0-042 exam.
I would request for answers to the following two questions regarding this:
(1) Is claearing 1Z0-007 a pre-requisite for appearing for 1Z0-042 ?
(2) If yes, would they consider my clearing 1Z0-007 in 2006 for the same?
Thanks,
Sumanto.
Sumanto,
1) The 007 exam is not a pre-requisite for the 042 exam, however both exams are required to obtain the 10g DBA OCA certification.
2) It does not matter when you passed the 007 exam, the results will count toward your certification. You do not need to retake the exam. You may obtain your 10g DBA OCA certification by passing only the 042 exam. Be sure that you are using the same Oracle Testing ID when you create your web account at pearsonvue.com/oracle.

I tried to pass exam on DB administration I ... and failed. I am a bit shocked now.
Folks whats point in exam for course when information in course is not enough to pass that exam?!
I accepted as self evident that if You complete course (that means learn stuff from it), that should be enough to pass exam.
Besides that I have long experience as developer and a little as admin (that obviously means I studied things on my own). But that was not enough to pass even first exam...
Now I am pissed off - I spend lots of time on stuff that now I will have to get rid off on as soon as possible and all plans went down the drain.
Hint to you on future - try to make exams consistent with course.
And time is by faaar to short. There is no actually time to think about question. Just read quickly and press first answer that seems correct.
Exams typically do not follow a course topic for topic. While we recommend a course that will help candidates prepare for an exam, that is not an indication that everything you come across in an exam will have been covered in the course. The test is designed to test candidates on performing in a particular job role.
We hope that you will continue to prepare for this exam and are able to perform better when you take it again. Thank you for your feedback.

sir i want to do Oracle 10g certificate in online what is the procedure..and what is required.please send me the further details
Abhishek, the 007 exam you passed in 2008 will count toward your 11g OCA certification. You can become 11g DBA OCA by passing the 052 exam.
Priyanka, you will not be able to complete any 10g certification totally online. I suggest that you start by having a look at our website certification.oracle.com to find the information you need to pursue certification.

Kindly enlighten me on the best certification that can associate with my work
@Sudharshan - I am not sure what you mean by saying that you got your certification from NIIT. If you hold the 10g DBA OCP certification, you do not need to take 3 exams for 11g DBA OCP, you will only need to take one exam to upgrade 10g to 11g. If you have already taken exams to become certified, you can access your Oracle Testing ID in your CertView account at certview.oracle.com.
@Sachin, are you sure you're looking under the right CertView account for your 2nd exam. Did you take all exams and submit the form under the same testing ID? You should contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/f39Dny for additional assistance with this.
@Jatinder, you can find training centers in your region by visiting OUs website at www.oracle.com/education and selecting Testing Centers from the left navigation. Regarding choosing between DBA and ERP, this a personal decision as to which one is better for you. The answer for your career would likely be different from someone else's career path. It depends on the market in your region, your personal interest, skills and background. I suggest you do some research on what types of jobs are available in your region and the possible differences in salaries.

Hi, I have 4 years of HR functional background & would like to make my career as an HR Analyst in USA.I am looking for a certification in PeopleSoft. Can you please suggest me the right option either training or certification to start with in?
@Chethan, you should start by reviewing our website at certification.oracle.com. You may be surprised at the number of certifications available. This will also give you an idea of the types of job roles for which we offer certifications.
@Guest,
I have two helpful places for you to visit to help you make this decision. You should start by reviewing our website at certification.oracle.com; specifically, review the applications certifications available from Oracle at http://bit.ly/V7dW8.
You should also pose this question to your peers on the Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C. The community there usually has great feedback.

Hi, I am Ms.Radha and I have worked in the Computer dept of a Bank in India. I have worked with oracle 10G - PL/sql, forms and application servers. I would like to take up OCP in Oracle 10G DBA. Is it necessary to do OCA first before OCP. What about my job prospects after I get an OCP. Is OCM also a must. How do I prepare for the exams. Please suggest a good study material available in Indian markets.
Regards
Radha
Hi Radha,
Yes, OCA is a prerequisite to OCP. Surveys have been done that show that certification does improve your job prospects - provided you prepare for you exam by study and practice rather than using brain dumps. I believe that there was a recent blog post here about this very topic. Have a look through the recent blog archives. OCM is not a must. Obviously, you increase your employability exponentially by moving up to OCM, but it is a very arduous certification process, not to be taken lightly.
You can prepare for exams first by reviewing the exam topics on our website and determining where your weaknesses lie. You can also take Oracle University classes and finally, do a quick search in our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C to find books that others have suggested helped them with preparation.
Thank you for your interest in Oracle Certification and we wish you the best as you begin your journey!
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Lanfranco,
The first thing you should do is have a look at our website at certification.oracle.com. We do have a PL/SQL Developer certification http://bit.ly/1oyl6E. From that page, you can also get to exam topics and recommended training. Additionally, you can visit our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C to search for books that others have suggested helped them prepare for this exam.
Good luck with your certification!

Hi, my name is Vijay and i am currently residing in India. I am appearing for my 1Z0-051 test this Friday as that is a prerequisite for my OCA Certification. Then there is also a choice for the prerequisite exam between the 1Z0-047 and the 1Z0-051. My dilemma is choosing between the two. Does one have more value than the other or is there a specfic reason for the choice between the two?
My near future goal is to seek certification as an OCP in PL/SQL developer.
Vijay,
I'm a little confused about which exam you are taking this Friday? Do you mean you're taking 052 this Friday and then will need to choose between 051 and 047? You will find good information on how to decide which exam to take by doing a quick search of our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C. This question has been asked and answered several times on that forum. Good luck with your certification path!

Hello Sir,

hi i had 3 years of experience in oracle forms n reports. I have cleared Exam-007 and Exam-147 in year 2009.Now i want hvOCP certification in developer track.
1.Do i have to give above examz again?
2.Which examz i have to give next?
Hi All,
I am looking forward to appear for Oracle IZO-007 certification.
Can anybody help me in how to enroll for the same?
Thanks ,
meghna
@Vijay, this question has actually been asked before on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C and has been answered quite well. You should search on the Forum for helpful info.
@Sherly, the best first step you can take if you're interested in Oracle Certification is to have a look at our website at certification.oracle.com. You will find a wealth of information there on availalbe certifications, requirements, exam info, etc.
@Sumeet, If you are PL/SQL Developer OCA, you can obtain Forms Developer OCP or Advanced PL/SQL Developer OCP by passing a single exam. Exam 141 will lead to Forms Developer OCP and 146 will lead to Adv PL/SQL Developer OCP. You can find more info on out site here http://bit.ly/1oyl6E. To answer your first question, you do not need to retake the exams. The results remain valid.
@Meghna, You can register for exams at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle. For more information, you can start by having a look at our website at certification.oracle.com.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Thanks Brandye.
Also I wantedto know after registering for the course what is the the time limit in which i actually have to appear for the examination?
I am Oracle10g OCP certified want to upgrade Oracle11g OCP. Can I go for IZO-050 to become Oracle11g Certified Professional?
@Meghna, There is no time limit between taking the course and taking the exam. However, an older version of training will not count toward a later version of certification. For example, if you take the 10g training, you will not be able to submit it toward the 11g DBA OCP certification.
@Mali, yes, this is the path you'll take.

Sir/Madam,
I had completed the OCA – Oracle 9i SQL & PL/SQL in Feb 2009. If I will clear the Oracle 10g form paper (1ZO-141) then am I would be eligible for the OCP certificate.
With regards,
Manjiri.
Hello,
I m looking for oca certification...which one is more appropriate 1Z-047
or 1z-051(11g)
Hi Brandye,
My self irfan, i'm currently working with TCS Bangalore(INDIA) & want to join for oracle DBA 10 or 11g. i would like to take few suggestions from you to select the version and want to know the procedure how to take this Certifications.
Hi,
i cleared ocjp on 16th aug 2011 but haven't recieved my certificate till now .
I sent an complaint email to oracle support but they aren't responding.
I am forced to write this on this blog.
My testing id is OC0999557
what should i do next ?
@Sharwari, there are more than 125 Oracle Certification exams. Studies have been shown that certification can help certified individuals secure better jobs and also better pay. To find more information on available certifications, required exams, exam topics and other helpful details, please visit our website at certification.oracle.com.
@Manjiri, If you hold the PL/SQL OCA certification, you will be able to obtain the Oracle Forms Developer OCP certification by passing the exam 141. You can find more details on our website here http://bit.ly/1oyl6E.
@Guest, re: 047 vs 051. You should begin by comparing exam topics to see which exam may be more appropriate for your current knowledge and skill level. You can also do a quick search on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C to see others' comments on this subject.
@Irfan, You can find more information on certification requirements, exam codes, exam topics, etc on our website at certification.oracle.com. As far as 10g vs 11g. It is usually best to follow the certification path for the latest version, which would be 11g. However, this is largely a personal decision based on your current job, desired job, current knowledge/skill level and the available opportunities or demand in your region. You might be able to find better guidance on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/oDYL8C.
@Arun, please see our Certification FAQ http://bit.ly/chs7nA, under Certificate and Logo>"I have not received my certification success kit. What do I do?" This will give you the steps to take to ensure you receive your certificate.

Brandye Barrington
Hello Sir,
I have given 1z0-047(SQL expert) and 1z0-042(Oracle 10g DBA Admin-1) certification exam.I have completed the requirements for OCA certification. Will I need to fulfill any other requirement to get my OCA certificate. And after how many days I will receive my OCA certificate?
You should view your account at certview.oracle.com to determine if all the requirements have been met and if the certification has been granted. At the bottom of the Certification History page, there will be information on when your success kit should arrive and what to do if you have not received it within the allotted waiting time. Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Hi,
I have cleared my SCEA part I in Sep 2010 and I bought the assignment exam in Jan 2011. I haven't worked on it so far and only last week I started to work on the assignment. However I noticed lot of changes to the procedure (new training requirement, new vendor etc). From this forum I noticed that for my case, I have to send a mail to suncert_ww@oracle.com to get a voucher for the pearsonvue. I have sent a mail on last Tuesday (2-Jan-2011) but I haven't got any response so far. From the forums I understand that it takes just 3 business days but I haven't got any response after 4 days.
I have already created a profile with pearsonvue but I haven't exactly followed the steps. However I still see, the ID I got from Sun is visible in pearsonvue as well. So I assume my details are already available in pearsonvue as well.
Any clarifications on this will really help as I have very less days for my voucher to expire.

Ravi
hi i want certifed as pl/sql developer and recently i cleared 1Z-147 exam and somebody saying that 1z-007 is prerequesite but i'm intresting in 10g or 11g but i herd if i did rather than 9i i wont get certificate for that - so please confirm and suggest me as soon as possible
Ravi,
It is difficult for me to assist because I don't have any identifying details on you. Please go ahead and submit an SR to the Certification Support team http://bit.ly/f39Dny and provide all the details - Full name, Candidate ID, email address.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
The PL/SQL Developer certification is not version-specific. If your experience is in 10g or 11g, you can take 047 or 051 as the SQL exam requirement in this path. Either of those exams will fill the same requirement as the 007 exam. The benefit of the 047 exam is that you will receive an additional certification - SQL Certified Expert.

Hi,
I have an issue with my testing IDs, and I tried to send a question trough Support form on http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP , but unfortunately I am getting an error:

My question contains 1535 characters incl. whitespace - could you please check it and allow upload for longer questions/problem descriptions?

I am with Leading MNC for past 6 years and have worked with application programming that involves DB2. I have no knowledge of Oracle or administration side of it. My career track do not allow me to look outside of Application Programming and my company doesn't sponsor neither encourage certifications.
I want to get out of this job and look for Oracle certification. My question is
1. While appearing for any certification, do oracle ask for Current JOB details
Or
2. Is job mandatory to appear for Oracle Certification?
Hi SK,
Oracle does not ask for nor require job details in order to become certified. The only requirements are testing and training for some certifications. Some certifications do not require training. You can find more information on our website at certification.oracle.com.

Brandye Barrington
@Brandye: Thanks for your effort! Unfortunately, no one from the support team has contacted me.
Please, could you provide some email address, so I can send a question regarding my testing IDs?
Hi Dejan, The support team indicated that they replied to you on Jan 13 that they were working on your merge request and had escalated to our account manager at Pearson VUE. Perhaps the email went to your junk mail folder? Your SR number is 23137783. Please see if you can find the email that was sent and you can reply for an update to ocp-supportresponse_ww@oracle.com. Please reference your SR#.

Hello,my name is himanshu i am mca student from indore , i have few quactions
1-the soa certification is it good for frashers
2-certification center in indore for soa
3-if soa is not for frashers how to get soa ceritication-
4-which certifiaction i should go to get a job without expriance core java required expirance in india
Himanshu,
The best way to determine if the SOA certification is right for you is to review the exam topics. If you are completely lost, then maybe the SOA certification is not right for you at this time, or maybe you need to read books and study and then have a look at the exam topics again. I think that you should pick a certification based more on your level of interest - that is what will keep you learning and growing in a job that you love.
As far as an appropriate certification to help you get a job with no experience, I don't think that I can answer that question. It is difficult for anyone without experience to get a job anywhere in the world. This is the global conundrum for those entering the work force - you need to have experience to get a job but you need a job to get experience. I'd say that you should decide what you are interested in and start to pursue that path, reading, studying, practicing on the application, and pursue certification in an area that interests you.
Good luck on the path you choose.

Brandye Barrington
Hi i am interested in pursing database testing in future which Oracle certification would be suitable for me ???

Hi,
I am planning to start my new job with role as a DBA. I am currently in USA. Can anybody suggest me which certification will help me getting job here? I can see most of the employers want certified employee. I have no clue which will be useful to me.Please comment.
hi i bought scjp voucher in may 2010 at niit, hyderabad.i went to write exam in december 2010.they told "the voucher expired","even the validity was till april 2011". i have been asking them about this issue, they are telling we will issue new voucher, but not yet. where can i give complaint regarding this problem.please tell me.
@guest, an Oracle DBA certification would probably be appropriate for you. Go to http://bit.ly/He4OVI and select 'Database' under #2 and 'Oracle Database' under #3. You will be able to see the Oracle Database certifications that are available. Clicking on one of the links will take you to a page that will give you the certification requirements for your chosen path.
@Vishnu, If you purchased the voucher from NIIT, you will need to sort the issue out with NIIT. I'm sorry, but for a voucher that was issued so long ago, I'm not sure that there is anything that we can do. If you like, you can submit an SR to Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/f39Dny. I'm not sure if there is anything they can do. But if you submit the SR, you'll need to include a very detailed account of what has happened - including any emails that have been passed back and forth. We'll need to know dates of communications.
Thanks,

i am mca 2010 pass out student. i am still trying for job. my opinion is oca certificate may help me to get job.
but i am confused about oca exam there are lot of exams in oracle which exam should i write. i want certification in pl/sql (or) sql in oracle 10g
what is certification fee. where we have to write exam. i am presently staying in bangalore, karnataka, india.
can i get practice papers from any website for free of cost?
(or)online free tests i want
please anybody help me.
Hi Vithal,
You should start with going to this page on our website http://bit.ly/He4OVI. From here, you can drill down to the certifications you might be interested in. When you would like more information about a certification, you can click on that link and you will be taken to a page that outlines the certification requirements for you. There are free sample questions for a number of Oracle's Certification exams. Otherwise, you may purchase practice exams from Kaplan. If there are practice tests available, there will be a link on the website. I caution you against searching for practice tests on the web as you will likely only receive illegal brain dumps. Using brain dumps is considered cheating and can cost you your certification.
Good luck with your certification path!

Hi..I had taken classroom trainings for oracle 9i(DAF-I,DAF-II) in 2010-2011 but didnt done certifications then . Now i wanted to get OCP certified in oracle 10g . Can I do that ? Can I fill oracle 9i classroom details in Course Submission Form ?
Thanks & Regards
Gurmeet Singh
Hi Gurmeet,
9i courses will not count toward 10g certification. You will need to pursue your 9i DBA OCP and then upgrade to 10g if you want to use your prior 9i training to fulfill the training requirement.

Hi,
I want to appear for 1Z0-047 this Saturday.
Through my company we get discounted vouchers but the date for that has passed and I still wish to appear for it independently. could anyone guide me on discounted vouchers please.
I want to know is the below info still correct
May 8, 2007
OCP Exam Vouchers for Oracle Partners
OCP exam vouchers are available for organizations who are members of Oracle Partner Network (OPN). OPN members are entitled to a 100% discount on the list price of the Oracle Certification production exams (discount does not apply to beta exams). One may not combine any other promotions with the OPN Program discount. Discounts must be applied at the time of scheduling the Oracle Certification exam. Electronic vouchers are offered to partner companies on an annual basis by partner level: Partners receive two, certified partners receive four and advantage partners receive six electronic vouchers per year respectively.
OPN members are entitled to a 25% discount without the above mentioned limit. To request discount vouchers, send an email at least 5 business days prior to one's potential exam date, to one of the email ids:emeaocp_ww@oracle.com (for EMEA region) and opninfo_us@oracle.com (for rest of the world)
Email Subject: 25% or 100% Voucher Discount Request
Company Name
OPN PIN Number
Employee Name (Format as First Last Name)
Prometric Testing ID Number (Required only if one has completed at least one OCP exam)
Date of Planned Exam Appointment
Exam Title and Number (Since one has not scheduled the exam appointment, include the planned exam number and title.
Exam Location (including country, details of exam centers can be found at www.prometric.com)
Hi Partha,
All certification exams can be taken through Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/oracle.
@Guest, I'm not sure where you found the information above, but some of the info is out-dated. Also, this is on a company level and not on an individual level. If you want to access OPN discount vouchers, you will need to get them from your company who is an Oracle partner - not from Oracle.

Hi,
I want to do Oracle certification,
I don't know any information about this certification,
can you please tell me the details about this and which certification i have to write first.
Please tell me the details
hi..
I had cleared my z0-007 sql paper on 30-june-2012. I want to know the time gap allowed between Z0-007( sql) and Z0-147(PL/sql) paper.
@Guest on June 22, If you want to pursue Oracle PL/SQL Certification, you'll need to start with Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA. You can find details on our website at http://bit.ly/NlTqtO.
@Guest on July 3, There is no time limit between taking two exams. You just want to be sure that you complete a path before one of the exams in your path retires. However, there are not current plans to retire exam 147.

Hi I am dotnet developer and am planing do oracle 11g certification.
I need to know the order in which the exams need to be given by a developer. The sql as well as pl/sql.
Hi, want to write Oracle certification of oracle 11g - sql and PL/sql.
Can you tell me the which certification i have to write first.
could you please tell me the information about these exams.
@Prab, the exams do not need to be taken in any order. However, you will only receive certification after all exams in a path are passed. You can find the certification requirements on our website here http://bit.ly/NlTqtO.
@Guest, These certifications are not version-specific. You can find the certification path for the PL/SQL certifications at the link provided above. You can find the path for SQL Expert certification on our website at http://bit.ly/STK0uW.

Hi,
I am interested in the Oracle PL/SQL Developer OCA.
From the certification paths, I was going to choose:
1Z0-007 Oracle 9i sql and 1Z0-147 Program with PL/SQL. Is all I need for the Associate Certification?
The 007 exam - states that is it available as a 'non-proctored' exam. Is this non-proctored exam a valid exam or a 'practice test'?
Also, do I have to take the exams in order - can I take the 147 exam before the 007 exam?
Thanks!
The exams you mention are all that is required for OCA. The exams can be taken in any order, but both exams must be passed before certification is granted. The 007 exam can be taken online from your home or another location - this is what non-proctored means. The 147 exam must be taken at a Pearson VUE Testing Center or an Oracle Testing Center.
I hope this helps - good luck on your tests!

what is the other good combination of certification along with Oracle.Especially in gulf.
I am fresher .
This is a difficult question to answer, and one that you really need to answer for yourself. I suggest you start by having a look at our website certification.oracle.com. There, you can see what certifications are available and see where your interest and current skills lie. This will give you a better picture of how you should move forward.

Hi,
I have completed the oracle(10g)DBA certification in 2009, through prometric center. and I have not received the certificate toll now. I have the original marks list which I have got upon the completion of the exam. Could any one please guide me to whom i need to contact to get my Oracle certificate and How can I registered use the get the oracle Logo on my certificates.
Thanks,
Prabhakar.
Hi Prabhakar,
Here is what I suggest you do. Please follow the instructions carefully.
1. Go to pearsonvue.com/oracle and select My Account>create a web account.
a. enter your information exactly as it was entered in your account at Prometric - even if the information is old.
b. be sure that you use the same testing ID - you will find this info on your score report from Prometric
2. If Pearson VUE recognizes your details and is able to match your details with an one of the accounts uploaded from Prometric, your Pearson VUE web account will be created and you may proceed to #3.
a. If some of the information that you enter does not match the account brought over from Prometric, Pearson VUE will assign you a new Oracle Testing ID and you will have 2 IDs in the systems.
b. Before you proceed, you will need to go to pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge and request Pearson VUE to merge the two IDs. Allow at least 24 hours for the merged IDs to be merged in Oracle's database once they are merged on Pearson's side. Once the IDs are merged, proceed to #3.
3. Go to certview.oracle.com and authenticate your account using the email address and Oracle testing ID in your Pearson VUE account. Once you have authenticated your account, you will be able to view your certification history and download your logos.
a. If you have trouble with authentication, you will have 3 attempts to enter the information correctly. Go ahead and use those 3 attempts. On the 3rd failed attempt, your account will be referred to the support team for manual authentication. Your account will be authenticated quicker if you go ahead and fail authentication 3 times in a row and let the account be referred to the support team, than if you stop after 2 failed attempts and contact the support team yourself.
4. After authenticating your CertView account, you can go back to pearsonvue.com/oracle, login and update your details (address, email address, etc).
5. After updating your details at Pearson VUE, contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/KMsuH3 and request a reshipment of your certificate. Please indicate in your service request that you have already updated your address at Pearson VUE and also specify if you want a hard copy of your certificate, or if soft copy is sufficient.
These steps seem daunting, but it is not too difficult a process. And this process will bring your account current.

Brandye Barrington

Hi All,
I am venkatesh did Oracle 10g and 11g Administration from a certified institute now i want to write the certification for OCA in administration.
I went through oracle site they are telling that
OCA= (1z0-007/1z0-047/1z0-051) +1z0-042
Now my Question is that need i have to clear two papers to become an OCA in administration or else only 1z0-042 is enough to be an OCA Administration.
One more thing is that can u guys provide me the books names to read to pass the exam.Is that worth to buy dumps from websites
Hi Venkatesh,
You need to pass both exams for OCA certification. You can go to our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm to find suggestions for books to help you prepare for the exam.
Please do not invest in dumps. On top of being considered cheating materials, they are often poorly written and unreliable.

Hi,
I have completed certification on Oracle 9i: Introduction to SQL (1Z0-007) exam in the year 2009.Now I want to go ahead and complete 1ZO-147 (Program with PL/SQL) so that I could be OCA. Can I go ahead and get certified or should I take up the 1z0-007 again. Is there any validity for a particular exam?
You do not need to re-take the 007 exam. You will need to be sure that you take the 147 exam under the same ID as the 007 exam so that you will be able to access your exam results.

Hi Sir, please revise the questions for Oracle Java SE6 Programming certification as the dump questions are being circulated. This causes blame on those who really studied hard and passed the examination.
We review and revise exams regularly. This is a maddening situation that we do our best to combat on a daily basis. Thank you for your concern and honesty.

Hello,
I hold my first BA from University of BC and currently studying Computing Science at Simon Fraser University.
I also have Sun Java Certified Programmer certification and currently studying for Oracle's Professional Web Component Developer exam.
When I first wrote my SJCP certification, I found the use of a white board to work out problems rather inconvenient. It is my understanding that it is Oracle's policy to provide eraseable white boards for the exams. I spoke with Oracle's customer support, they told me that it is up to the exam center whether to provide ereaseable boards or plain paper. I then spoke with exam center, as suggested by Oracle, but the exam center had referred me to Pearsonvue. I consequently spoke with Pearsonvue, and they had referred me back to Oracle.
It would appear that I am circling around trying to request a review of Oracle's exam policy that only allows eraseable white boards to work out problems on the exam.
Being a student at 2 universities, I have never used ereaseable whiteboards on my exams. When working out programming problems, one is often required to write down code snippets to manually work out or "trace" an answer. The problem with writing on white board using a thick pen are:
1) In my SJCP the pen itself worked poorly - it was running out of ink which required writing the same text over several times
2) the pen for whiteboard is often incapable of accurately rendering fine Java symbols like "}" "," and so on. This requires writing symbols in bigger size which consumes small space on the board and takes time to write and re-write the code snippet until it fits properly on the board.
Such was my experience when I wrote my SJCP and I anticipate the same for my Web Component Developer exam. As you can see, this is not a very efficient exam-taking process.
I would kindly request that you would review this particular exam policy and allow Oracle's exam takers to have an option of using blank, plain paper for writing with pen/pencil that the invigilator would themselves provide.
Thank you,
Victor.
Hi Victor,
I checked directly with our account manager at Pearson VUE on this and I wanted to confirm - for security purposes, paper is never allowed in the test room. Candidates are only allowed to use the erasable notepad and pen that are provided.

Hi,
I am a Business Analyst (CBAP) and have an experience of more than 6 years. I work end to end from project kick off to scoping to requirements and till implementation /UAT with customers. I have to interact with Engineering teams in database schema/design discussions.
I want to attend a formal training on Oracle database and get certified. When i look at various certification paths and exams, i get confused on which ones should i do and what would help me in my role.
With Oracle certification, my objective is to get a formal training, be able to understand the database, basic/intermediate query functions and design database schema.
Can you suggest the right steps for me to move ahead in my pursuit of learning Oracle?
Thanks in advance for this help.
From what your objective is, it sounds like you would want to choose the 11g Database Administrator cetifications OCA and OCP. You can see the requirements for these certifications on our website http://bit.ly/Kx7iac. You could also ask your question on the Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm. The users on that forum typically provide very useful feedback.

hi guys , I've done 1z0-144 but unfortunately i failed , i was so mad at oracle because , i finished the exam before 40 min because i was so confident , i answered most questions correctly i guess , there is no option that u can review my answers so I can learn from my mistakes , when i contacted them that only one score to pass , they said this "Thank you for contacting Oracle Certification Team.
Please note that your exam may contain unscored questions in addition to the scored questions, so the total number of questions that are presented to you may be greater than the number shown on the exam page. This is standard testing practice. You will not know which questions are unscored. If your exam contains unscored questions, the time allowed for the exam takes into consideration the time you will need to answer all questions and review your work. Your exam results will reflect your performance on the scored questions only.
You can rest assured that the exam is scored fairly and objectively. We appreciate your understanding on this.
We request you to visit our web site at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=138#2_6 to view the scoring policy.
For further queries we request you to please raise a new Support request at http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP. We will be happy to assist you.
Regards,
OCP Team"
what's your opinion about this !
Ali,
You received a score report upon exam completion that provides information on how you performed on specific topic areas. You should spend more time preparing for the topic areas on which you performed poorly. We cannot give you question-by-question feedback on the exam, as I'm sure you can understand. It would compromise the security of our exams to provide questions and answers that are on the exam.
Use the feedback you received on your score report to close the knowledge gap as you prepare for your next exam attempt. I'm sure it is frustrating to feel so confident about your exam and to not pass it. I wish you the best of luck on your next attempt.

Brandye Barrington
I am writing this to inquire about which is the best topic to choose in oracle certification.Currently I am preparing with oracle 10g and 11g.
will it be helpful for me to apply in companies or should I go with other certification topic. And also I had a doubt if I am going with OCA,OCM,OCP certification then among these Job responsibilities, which one, will I be concerned with:-
1)Application Administrator.
2)Application Developer.
3) Application Server Administrator.
4)Database Administrator.
5)Systems Administrator.
6)OPN certified specialist.
7)Information technology architect.
I need your help, I've been working since 2002 with Oracle partners and I have already some certifications (Sales Champion). At the moment I'm out of this market and don't have access to Oracle OPN. How can I get another copy of all these certificates? I need this because I will start in a new company and they´re asking me to give them.
I will wait for your response.
Thank you
Duarte Braz Filho
worked at Bertini do Brasil, Unione, Ninecon, TCI BPO all Oracle Partners in Brazil
@Guest on May 24 - sorry I missed replying to your request earlier. This is a good question for your peers on the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.
@Duarte - If your credentials are Oracle Certifications, obtained through the Oracle Certification Program by taking proctored exams at Pearson VUE or Prometric, you can request your certificates by contacting Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/KMsuH3. You should first check your certification statuses in certview.oracle.com and ensure that your address is correct and updated at personvue.com/oracle.
If your credentials are from OPN assessments, you can contact opn-edu_ww@oracle.com, to see if they can assist. Sales Champion is an OPN credential rather than an Oracle Certification. If your other credentials are similar to Sales Champion, then you'll need to request all from OPN.

I have passed exam 1Z0-007 (Introduction to Oracle9i SQL) in 2008. I would like to continue on achieving OCA. Can I continue to prepare for the examination on 1Z0-147(Program with PL/SQL)? I know this question has been asked before, but I just want to reconfirm this.

@Guest on Aug 7 - you can go to our website at certification.oracle.com. On the home page, you will see a table where you can select product areas, etc. If you'll select 'Applications,' in #2, then select different product areas in #3, you'll see that there are financials certifications in several different product areas - Oracle Financials Applications, Fusion Applications and E-Business Suite to name a few.
@Srinivas - yes, you can move on to the next exam in your path. The 007 exam results remain valid.
@Sampath - DBA is an option for you. You should visit our website at certification.oracle.com to see what your options are and how to go about pursuing the certification.

Many years ago, I took all of the Oracle 8i DBA exams and passed all but the last one the last day that the 8i track was valid. Since then to be frank no one I was doing contract work for seemed to care or even know what an OCP DBA was, so I never pursued 9i or 10g certs. Plus over the years the OCP DBA track seemed to be "moving the goal post" to make applicants take more classes and tests. What is the state of the OCP DBA track and are the tests for previous versions or is it all 12 now.
The web page used to be fairly straight forward but seems to be very salesy even to the point of trying to keep people from getting their certs. the PMI cert went this way and people stopped taking it and employers stopped asking for it.
You can still obtain a DBA certification in 10g, 11g or 12c. Go to certification.oracle.com. Under "Get Started Finding Your Oracle Certification:"
- select Database in field 2
- select Oracle Database in field 3
From there, you can select 10g, 11g or 12c to see the available certifications, or you can view all 3 versions by leaving field 4 blank.

Hi,
I am a fresh graduate with an MSc(Business Management and Finance) and BBA(Marketing).
I have been hearing about Oracle since I finished my Bachelors degree in Marketing. But never knew a lot about the real worth of its certification.
I am planning to do certification in Oracle R12 Financials but I am still not sure whether it really helps business students to brighten their chances of getting employed or is it just for people related to IT field.
The market for almost every business has become so competitive now a days that you got to have good IT skills to back your degrees and make a strong impression on yours employers that is why I want to get Oracle certification.
Kindly anyone guide me about this, being a graduate in business studies and finance should I do my certification in Oracle R12 Financials ? would it be in line with my degrees or it would be irrelevant for me ?
I have not appear of any certification. I would like to continue on achieving OCA. Can I continue to prepare for the examination on 1Z0-147(Program with PL/SQL)?
Usman,
This depends on many factors. I think that the certification needs to be in an area that compliments your skills and in an area that is in demand in your region. This question may actually be a better question for the Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.
Guest,
You can continue to prepare for the 147 exam. However, this is quite an old exam and may retire in the near future (next two years). So, if you are preparing for it, you may want to go ahead and take it before allowing too much time to pass.

I am a sociology graduate working in a healthcare institution for the past 19years. I have a rich knowledge of the domain which helped me to coordinate well with the vendors during ERP implementation. I gained good practical knowledge on IT industry. I have done a basic learning in SQL and know very little about PLSQL. Our institution has Oracle 11g - supported by outsourced DBA. Can I do a DBA course so that I can monitor and appreciate the work of the outsourced vendor and continue to be a good asset for my institution in future also.

Hi,
I would like get APEX certification. And there is a BETA for 4.2. And my question is WTF? You have already 5.0 EA Apex and still have beta for previouse version. So, when will be avalible next version? Thank you.
There is no plan yet for APEX 5. If you wish to obtain the APEX certification, you'll need to go for the 4.2 version. If you take the exam now, you can get the exam at a significant discount while it is in beta.

hi
is iz0-035 proctored or non-proctored?
Exam 1Z0-035 is a proctored exam and must be taken at a test center. Did you know that you could upgrade directly to 12c with only a single exam - 1Z0-060?
Unless you need to upgrade to 9i for your job, you may want to consider upgrading to a more current version of certification. Though the upgrade path to 9i is still available, it is a very old technolgy and certifiation.

Sanjeev,
You can continue your certification path in Forms Developer or Advanced PL/SQL Developer. Go to our website at http://bit.ly/WP03i1 and you'll see all the certifications available. If you Ctrl+F and search for Forms and then Advanced PL/SQL Developer, you'll be able to view certification requirements for both.
Osas,
I suggest you start by having a look at our website. You can go to certification.oracle.com, or you can go to the View All Certifications page that I reverenced above to see what certifications are available and get an idea of how to get started. You'll first need to select a certification that you'd like to achive and determine the requirements to earn that certification. Once you determine the exams you need to take, you can go to our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm and search for books that others have recommended to help prepare for certain exams.

I am from India. I have completed 11g OCA, I want to appear for 11g OCP. But the prerequisite is to attend one instructor led training or virtual training. But I am not sure how to attend the training. I have emailed several times to Oracle Corp, Called them but did not get a good answer. They are just mentioning the Oracle education page. Is there any person who have recently completed 11g OCP and attended the instructor let training please help me. I need to know how and where I can attend the training so that I can appear for the OCP.
Thanks,
Are you contacting Oracle University http://bit.ly/1qjGWIM? They should be able to assist you.
You could also have a look at the Oracle University website to find training locations near you http://bit.ly/Up1Ts1.

Paul,
I have completed the oracle 9i certification on 2008 but lost the certificate. I dont have any info about the certification application details. can you please let me know whether any help from oracle to download my old certificate?
Govindarajan,
You should:
1) Contact Pearson VUE for assistance in creating your Pearson VUE web account. They will be able to assist you with connecting your new info with your old account. They will also be able to provide you with the information you will need in step 2. You will need to record the email address used in your Pearson VUE account and your Oracle Testind ID.
2) One hour or more after you've created your Pearson VUE web account, you will go to certview.oracle.com and authenticate your account using the email address and Oracle Testing ID from your Pearson VUE web account. Within CertView, you will be able to download your eCertificate.

Hi!!
I want to appear for OCP 10g DBA(1z0-047, 1z0-042, 1z0-043) and OCP Developer (1z0-144, 1z0-146) exam. I want to know that there is any certification package available for these five exams or I have to purchase vouchers for every individual exams.
There is not a package price for purchasing all these exams at once. One thing to consider is that the 10g certifications are retiring March 1, 2015. You may be better served by pursuing 11g DBA OCA and OCP certification and then going for the PL/SQL certifications.
The caveat to this is if you have already completed training. If you have completed 10g training, you should pursue the 10g certifications BEFORE March 1, 2015, then upgrade to 11g via the upgrade exam. 10g training will not be accepted toward 11g OCP certification.
If you have not yet completed training, I would suggest that you go for the 11g (or even 12c)certifications and complete training in 11g or 12c.
Regards,
Brandye
I currently have the 10g OCP and I am planning to take the IZ060 exam to upgrade my certification to 12c OCP. I understand that the 10g OCP certifcation is retiring in 1-March-2015. Does that mean I need to take the 12c upgrade exam before 1-March-2015? Or retiring just means Oracle no longer provide that. I still have not started my prep and I am not sure whether I will be able to take the exam before 1-march-2015 with my current workload. Please clarify.
You will not need to upgrade your 10g certification by March 1, 2015. However, based on the recent policy change https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/1055_01, you will need to upgrade your 10g certification within 12 months of the retirement date. So, you'll need to upgrade by March 1, 2016.

Hi Paul,
Hope you are in good spirits.
I want to get suggestion from you regarding the Oracle certifications.
I am Business Analyst consultant and working in Retail industry right now. I want to do some certification in oracle may be DBA.
I have started doing OCA few years back, but due to certain reasons couldn’t complete that. I just gave oracle 9i OCA ist exam only.
Can you please advise me, which all certification we have and what path I should follow.
Thanks in advance,
Param
Param,
If you want to continue with the DBA path, you can upgrade your 9i DBA OCA to 11g or 12c. The 9i DBA OCP path is no longer available - it has retired. Also, the 10g DBA OCP path will retire in March 2015, so it is best if you go ahead and pursue a more current version of certification with 11g or 12c.
You can get to 11g DBA OCP by passing exam 1Z0-034 and completing one relevant 11g or 12c training course. You can get to 12c DBA OCP by passing exam 1Z0-067 and completing one relevant 12c training course.
These two exams, 034 and 067, are currently in beta at the discounted price of US$50. You can get more information on beta exams on our website http://bit.ly/1tZr5Q6.
Good luck with your upgrade!

Hi Paul,
I have few questions on oracle certification exams which I intend to take in the near future.
The answers could help me choose appropriate certification exam based on my skillset.
I have worked as a PLSQL backend programmer, i.e., PLSQL application developer on Oracle database and I wish to opt for Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate, exam number 1Z0-147.
My questions are
1) Is 1Z0-147 exam for OCA or OCP.
2) Are there any pre-requisite exams that I need to complete before taking 1Z0-147. If yes, what are they?
3) I wish to be OCA in oracle application development followed by OCP. Please suggest the right path.
Thanks,
Chandra Harika
Hi Hassan,
I'm hoping that we'll be releasing some Java EE 7 exams this year some time.
Hi Chandra,
Exam 147 + a SQL exam (047, 051 or 061) will lead to OCA. Then you can move on to OCP with exam 146 http://bit.ly/1AGTMIh.

Hi all,
I'm Alberto, and I have a question for you.
I get "Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform, Standard Edition 5.0" certification in 2008, when Sun was not in Oracle.
Now I don't know how I can download documentation about that exam.
Could you please say me what I have to do?
Thank you

Hi All,
Just had a dilemma in my mind, whether OCM(Oracle Certified Masters) will rewarded by industry in the same way as it was some time back, specially with the big data wave hitting very badly....
Hi Sir, I'am indhu. my aim, wish, willing, life all are that i need to get job in ORACLE. I complete MYSQL introduction course.then what i need to do next please guide me.

HI all,
I am looking for oracle certification for dba , I want to know the job opportunity after certification and where i can get job . Or after certification can i get an good job because i am an fresher candidate and dba is an important role player .Kindly suggest and also in which functions i can get job
Tasvinder saini
tell me the fees structure for oracle database 10g professional for each paper and kindly tell me about the voucher and will u take online exam
Manu, please contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/YpaA7i. They will be able to offer more detailed help on this.
Tasvinder, The best thing for you to do is to do some job searches in our area. The answer to your question may vary by region and job market. You could also get some thoughtful answers from your peers on the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.
Rehmat, You can find the costs of Oracle Certification exams and Oracle University training (which is requiered for 10g DBA OCP certification) on our website at certification.oracle.com. If you choose to take one of the exams 1Z0-051 or 1Z0-061 to fulfill your SQL exam requirement, you can take one of those online. All other exams will need to be taken in a Pearson VUE testing center or an Oracle testing center (OTCs only available in certain countries). One note on 10g, the exams are retiring on March 1, 2015. This does not provide much time for you to prepare and take the exams. Then, based on our recertification policy, you would have to upgrade your certification to 11g or 12c by March 1, 2016 in order to keep your certification active. I would strongly recommend considering 11g or 12c certification as opposed to 10g.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Indu,
First, you need to be very clear to yourself what you want. Do you want a job at Oracle the company, or do you want a job working on Oracle technology at another company? Then you need to decide what job role you would interested in. I assume you're interested in MySQL since you did the MySQL course.
We have MySQL Database and Developer certifications. You can go to our website at certification.oracle.com and see the differences between the roles and the requirements for each certification. I also suggest that you take a look at careers that are currently available at Oracle http://bit.ly/LuXkCQ to see what the current need is.
You need to familiarize yourself with the job market and also with the Oracle Certification website. This will give you a better feel for your next steps.
Yash,
Your question is actually a really good discussion topic for the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm. Might I suggest you start the discussion there? You will get better feedback.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Alberto,
1. You need to create a Pearson VUE web account a personvue.com/oracle. Enter your Prometric ID during the registration process.
2. If Pearson VUE assigns you a new Oracle Testing ID (Prometric ID), you should immediately contact Pearson VUE - www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge - to have the IDs merged.
3. At least 1 hour after your account is created and any multiple IDs have been merged, you can go to certview.oracle.com, authenticate your account, and vie your certification history. You will need to enter the CertView authentication information exactly as it is in your Pearson VUE profile.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Melad,
Unfortunately, I don't have any info yet on when the EE 7 certifications will be released. Soon I hope. Stay tuned!

Hi Paul,
Firstly, Thank You for the Oracle Certification Program Blog..!!
To begin, I am an IT professional with total 11+ yrs of hands-on work exp in Oracle technologies - database, GUI (forms/reports), IDE using Designer 2K, Reporting using OBIEE 10g, Workflow, Java. Currently working in the capacity of a senior database application developer. I am interested in pursuing OBIEE Technical Architect. Below are my queries -
1) Would the 1Z0-591 exam be the appropriate exam to help me reach my goal ?
2) If yes to above qs, then after 1Z0-591 what further certifications can be taken up?
3) This is a general qs - I am also interested in staying updated in Analytics, Big Data and Cloud related technologies. What certifications, if any, does Oracle have in those areas..?
P.S. I had done an OCP in Oracle Application Developer track (in 2001) that had helped me progress in my career.
Thanks in advance..!!

Nusrat
hi paul ,myself manohar..i have done with my 11gOCA and supposed to do OCP..but i am at crossroads to make a decision like which OCP i have to take
11g OCA ---> 11g OCP
OR
11G OCA ---> 12C OCP..
need your expert advice...
Exam 1Z0-060. I am OCP DBA holding 9i and planning to upgrade to 12c with 060 exam. I am looking for a good book or materials that I can read and study myself. I will buy selftest simulated exams. However I cannot afford the training, since I am a faculty at a college, my college does not have budget for it. Any suggestions?
Hi Nusrat,
Passing the 591 exam will earn you the certification Oracle Business Intelligence Foundation Suite 11g Certified Implementation Specialist. You can find other available certifications on our website at http://bit.ly/1jkxzcT. This will give you an idea of what certifications are available in this and other areas. Good luck with furthering your certification achievements!
Manohar,
You can take either path. We always recommend following the most current version of certification, but a deciding factor for you may be training. If you've already completed trianing on 11g, you may want to consider 11g OCA > 11g OCP so that you can leverage the trainig you've taken. 11g training will not fulfill the training requirement for 12c certification. If you have not taken training yet, or if your training is in 12c, you can choose either path.
Ann,
You can have a look and see what Oracle Press Books http://bit.ly/URFuwt are available that will help you prepare. You could also download the Oracle Database and practice.

Hi,
Does anybody know when exam Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals 1Z0-051 will be retired?
Thanks
Lawrence
Hi Saria,
I suggest that you start with the Oracle Database 12c OCA certification, then move on to OCP.
http://bit.ly/1jgwLjC
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Lawrence,
I don't expect that the 051 exam will be retired any time soon. We are retiring the 10g certifications in March, but there are no current plans to retire 11g certifications and exams.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Hi Ujjwal,
The only exams that are available to take online are 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-061.

Hi Paul ,
I am Mangesh. Hi Team,
I had completed oracle 9i OCP in 2009. But I could not able to view the results now in certiview.com. The message indicates that "In order to regain access to the score reports, and have the exams show correctly on this page, you will need to bring the associated certification(s) current by upgrading to a current certification. You can see the details on the Oracle Certification website."
I am willing to apply for 11g upgrade exam.
I have queries
1- after I complete 11g upgrade exam can I able to see the oracle 9i certification exam results again?
query 2- I had taken Oracle 9i Hands On Course Requirement on 30-DEC-09, so for getting 11g OCP certificate(Hardcopy) do I again need to take any course?
Thanks,
Mangesh
Mangesh,
To answer your questions:
1. After passing the 11g upgrade exam, you hsould be able to view all your certification and exam history in CertView.
2. If you hold the 9i DBA OCP certification, you will not need to complete additional training to upgrade to 11g.
I'm concerned about the message you're receiving tho. You should be able to view your 9i certifications until November 1, 2015.
Would you please submit this issue to the Oracle Certification Support team http://bit.ly/YpaA7i to look into?
Thanks,
Brandye Barrington
Hi paul, I have completed polytechnic eduaction and also done redhat (RHCE). But still I am not qualifing the criteria of job. Would orcle help?
plz do reply
thanks
Omkar,
This is a tough question to answer. Of course, IT certification gives you an edge in the job market, but ultimately it depends on you - your skills, your experience, your presence in an interview, your resume or CV to get you an interview. There are so many more things that go into getting a job than just a certification.
Certifications are great tools to have in your toolbox, but you still have to be skilled at what you do and you still have to be able to get someone to look at your CV and want to talk to you.
Here is my suggestion. I urge you to look at jobs that you're interested in, then have a look at the available Oracle Certifications http://bit.ly/1jkxzcT that are related to that job. I think that it is important to know what employers are looking for and then develop your strategy.
I hope this helps.

Brandye Barrington

Hi,
I am Oracle 10g certified DBA (OCP). I had taken a break of couple of years from my career to take care of my family. Now I am planning to get back to work and hence want to get myself 12c certified.
For OCP 10g certification, I had taken training from SQL star international Mumbai. However, now I have learnt that this training institute has been closed down. Can you kindly provide me the list of oracle authorised training centres in Mumbai which will provide training for 12c certification.
Thanks,
Swati
Shilpa, your path looks fine. Either of the exams you mention will fulfill the requirement. You can get more information on the differences between these two exams on our Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.
Sandesh, work experience is not required for certification, but you might find it helpful.

Dear Sir,
What is OCP in simple term ?? and for a professional accountant like CIMA/ACCA/CPA which course is perfect offered by ORACLE
Best Regards;
If you are interested in Orace Database Administrator certification, you would start with Orace Database 11g Admin Certified Associate http://bit.ly/1jgwflz or Orace Database 12c Admin Certified Associate http://bit.ly/1jgwLjC. For the OCA certification, you will not need training. If you choose to move on to the Oracle Certified Professional certification, you will need to complete additional training. The 10g training will not fulfill the training requirement for 11g or 12c OCP certifiation.
Muhammad, OCP is a designation granted by Oracle - Oracle Certified Professional. Other designations granted by Oracle are Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Certified Master, Oracle Certified Expert and Oracle Certified Specialist. You can find more information about these levels of certification on our website http://bit.ly/1HwNKx4.

Hi,
I just appeared for 1z0-047 (SQL Expert); and scored 62% (passing at 66%). The test center's supervisor told me that if "I have marked any questions for review then those will not be considered for final answer validation. We suppose to unmark all questions from review. This was there is agreement we accept before start of test".
Is this true that questions marked for review are not considered for their answer validation? There were total 9 questions which I could not unchecked for review as time got over (and I didn't realized rule. I was under impression that all attempted questions will be validated for final score).
If this true then I feel it's a wrong practice when one is paying USD 150 for test.
Hi Brandye,
I appeared for 10Z-047 on Sunday, 31-May-2015 and got 62% where passing is at 66%.
After exam I came to know that marked questions for "review" are not considered for final count; and unfortunately I marked such 9 questions. I could not manage time and ended finishing question no 75th on 118th min. This was my first certification with Oracle (and in general of this type); and didn't think of much that marked questions wouldn't be considered for final count.
I am pretty sure if these marked questions are looked upon and considered then I will be through.
I studied genuinely for this certification (Oracle press, Steve O'Hearn, 2009 edition + online for 12c features + my 5 yrs experience with Oracle db + 20 questions Kaplan free test); I didn't refer any sort of dumps and no coaching or practice exams.
I agree that I am at receiving end because of terms I didn't realized at the end of exam. But I feel after paying USD 150 all attempted questions should be considered. If someone is marking for review that doesn't mean always that he is not sure. It would be like one wants refer same again later (or might be to review). Sometimes its just difficult to save USD 150 (or INR 9000) for same exam when you plan to for next one in order (1z0-147).
Brandye/Paul, I can get standard response that "we are sorry but that's the policy" but have a deep thought on policy of not considering answers of questions marked for review. This is my sincere request. Certification should be tested based on knowledge.
I would be happy if you acknowledge this concern and advise for any scope of re-consideration.
- Swapnil
Hi Swapnil,
All items are equally scored. Even if you mark questions for review and are not able to unmark them prior to the exam ending, those questions that are marked for review are still scored.

Brandye Barrington

Tamoghana, There is no Oracle Service Bus certification at this time.
Guest, I'm not entirely sure what your question is.

Dear,
I am oracle 10G OCP working as DBA since last 15 years , now i would like add OCM certification to my profile.
Now i am confuse whether to appear for 11G OCM or 12C OCM.

Thanks
I want to do certification in java se . what is the procedure and where I can get detail information about it. kindly reply soon.
Hi there.
I want to write Oracle Certification Associate(OCA) exam in the next 5 months. Where can I get to discuss about OCA exam only online, which blog ? Please help
12c OCM is not yet available. If you want to pursue OCM soon, you may want to go for 11g. First you will need to upgrade to 11g OCP if you are going for 11g OCM, or to 12c OCP if you are going for 12c OCM. Good luck!
Prashant, you should start on our website at certification.oracle.com. There you will see what Java SE certs are available, the requirements to earn the cert, and preparation details.
You can find information on how to prepare for OCA exams on our Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.

Hi, I am a Human Resources professional and would like to become certified in some of the tools we use daily. The Human Capital Management and Database administrator certifications are of interest. How difficult are these certifications to complete for people with minimal IT experience? Are there success and failure rates available for review?
There are no pass/fail rates available for exams. But I encourage you to review the exam topics of the exams that you might be interested in. That will give you a good idea of how technical they are and how difficult they may be for you.

Senthilkumar
Hi Senthikumar,
Did you, perhaps, take your exams under different Oracle Testing IDs? If so, you'll need to contact Pearson VUE http://pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge to have them merge your IDs so that you can view all your records in CertView.

1Z0-872 MySQL 5 Developer Certified Professional Exam, Part II
Hritika, I recommend that you start with having a look at our website certification.oracle.com to see what certifications are available and what is reaquired to earn each certification.

Hi Brandye,
Apologies if this questions has been asked before, I have two questions:
1) I did the certification 1Z0-451 about three years back when I was working with "Company A". I have the Oracle Testing ID and appointment number from that certification, but don't have any other information. Now I am working for "Company B", and want my previous certification to appear in the certview account that I have created using Company B's credentials. What would be the best way to go about this?
2) The certification 1Z0-451 has now been replaced with 1Z0-478. Does that mean that my 1Z0-451 certification is now null and void? Or would I still be considered certified?
Thanks
Pulkit
Pulkit,
Your certification is still active. However, you should not have created a new account with your new company information. You should have updated your account. I recommend that you provide all the information about your 2 accounts to the Oracle Certification Support team http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP and they can help you get this account issue sorted out.

I passed the SQL fundamental I (1ZO-051) exam in September 2015.
up to which date this certification is valid...?
any one please help me..?
Neel,
Just to be clear, this is a passed exam, not a certification. In order to earn an certification, you'll need to pass another exam. Congratulations on passing this exam and taking the first step in your certification path. The exam results will remain valid until you take the next step and earn your certification.

hi to all
i did training of dba in (oracle 10g) but when i attempt for exams (certification) 10g was obsolete so i attempt the exams with (oracle 11g).
Now my question is which certification i will get 10G or 11G or NONE?
Since you passed 11g exams, you will need to complete 11g training and your certification will be in 11g.

Hi Paul/All,

Hi,
I cleared 1Z0-047(Oracle Database SQL Expert 1Z0-047) in 2006 and couldn't take up 1Z0-147 for PL/SQL(Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate) back then. I decided to finish my OCA this year. I purchased a voucher for 1Z0-147 as well. But when I was about to take the appointment for the exam I came to know that 1Z0-147 is valid only till 31-DEC-2015 and I should have registered for exam before 30-NOV-2015. Could you please confirm if 1Z0-144 is the right exam that I need to take instead of 1Z0-147 and can I use the same exam voucher I purchased for 1Z0-147 for the new exam.
Thanks,
If I attend a Oracle boot camp (40 hours) in a week for SQL 12 c, what certification exam would you recommend?
Hi, please tell me certificates available for Unix , which are not yet obsolete.
Thanks
aarti
Hi Vons,
I recommend that you take a look at the exams you're interested in and compare exam topics to the boot camp topics. That is the best way to determine which certification path would be the best for you to follow based on your training.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Hi Aarti,
Oracle does not offer Unix certifications.
Regards,
Brandye Barrington
Lakshmi,
Exam 144 is the exam that you need to take, and the voucher you purchased for 147 is valid for 144 as well.
Good luck on your exam.

i am ravi,a sql and plsql developer i want oracle certificate , which exam i have to pass first.
Hi,
I wanna do carrer in oracle dba but currently i m 29 yr old working as technical support for desktop i have done graduation in commerce. Need to set career hence taking a risk of doing oracle dba certification. So at this age can it will help me or its a failure.
Hi Ravi, I recommend you have a look at Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate - https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:162#tabs-1-2&sc=OUNV160511P00006C0001. Good luck with your certification path.
Guest, the certification can help you at any age. Are you afraid that you are too old or too young? I think that either thought is incorrect. The younger you begin working on something, the longer you'll have to build your career. That said, it's never too late to switch to a career field that will make you happier and potentially bring you a higher salary. I say go for it!

Hi
I have done Diploma in Computer Engg. in 2013. And because of financial condition I could not continue my study properly now I am pursuing B.E took the admission in 2015.
My strong desire to work at Oracle Corporation now. So please guide me some good courses which will assist me to achieve my dream as soon as possible. If it is possible to join in coming 6 months then it will be best for my carrier.
I will be always thankful to you for my guidance.
Sumit
Hi Sumit,
This question is very difficult to answer because in considering which courses to take, you need to consider where your strengths and interests lie. Then you'd also need to research what positions Oracle is hiring for and what skills are requested in your region. You'd also need to keep in mind that this all may look different at the time you complete training and start looking for a job.
My recommendation would be for you to determine what type of job role you're interested in and search for training in that area.
Good luck and regards,
Brandye Barrington

Hello!
I am an accountant, and I am evaluating my options in the IT field. I have the following questions:
1. what line of oracle certification would be best for me to pursue, given my background? i.e. what line would best build / leverage on my area of core expertise (accounting)?
2. what opportunities lie in these certifications? Which type of employment can I pick up / what types of jobs can I do with these certifications. What companies, what roles?
Thank you very much!
Hi Olatunde,
Thanks for your interest in Oracle Certification. Your questions are quite broad. We have several financials certifications available. I recommend you visit our website http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=632 and see what certifications are available. This is a good place to begin your research.
As far as what jobs are available, I think the best thing you can do is go to the major job search sites in your area and search on certification titles, or key words and see what comes up.

I was unable to register to 1z0-963 exam with my voucher and Pearson veu gives following error: appreciate if you can help on this.
Discount validation failed.
Exam: 1Z0-963, Nov 20 at 10:30 AM
•This voucher can only be used when a specific client question has been answered. Gallage Prasad Buddhika Ariyarathne has not answered this question correctly.
But I'm wondering if this will still help me to start doing DBA related jobs. As you know Oracle is gearing towards Cloud Services and with that, DBA jobs are now managed by Oracle and with this, I fear there might be a few openings for DBAs outside of Oracle company.
Any thoughts?
