    Hi,

i have an OCP of dev track and OCA of oracle 9i db. Can i also take exam of 1ZO-060 to upgrade to oracle db 12c.

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, June 12, 2014

No, exam 060 is not the correct upgrade exam. There is now a path for DBA OCAs to upgrade to 12c DBA OCP with a required training courses and exam 067. You can view the details on our website http://bit.ly/1s9eLB4.

Is there a time limit within which I should register to avail of the 20% discount?

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, June 23, 2014

There is no time limit on the pricing of the value packages.

    Brandye Barrington

  • Ying Gu Tuesday, June 24, 2014

The classroom package does not get 20% off (Drop to $3652 from $3844). Is it a mistake or classroom package just don't get that discount?

    Thanks.

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, June 26, 2014

You're right, Ying. It looks like this classroom training offers a 5% discount. Sorry for the confusion.

    Hello,

I earned an Oracle8i DBA OCP. I am not sure what is about the upgrade certificate. Is it the same one like an Oracle12c DBA OCP ?

How is about the self-study package. Does this package contain as same study/practice stuffs as the others, such as the in-class and the live virtual course ?

    Thanks.

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, July 25, 2014

I'm not 100% sure what your first question is, so if I'm not answering your question, please let me know. If you hold an 8i DBA OCP, you'll need to upgrade to 12c. You can do so by passing the 060 exam.

If you're referring to the value packages above, those packages contain training, exam voucher and practice exam.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

Yes, Ana. You will only need to pass the 060 exam, as mentioned in the post above.

I only had OCA 9i certification, can I take one of this exam "Upgrade to Oracle Database 12c" (1Z0-060) to upgrade my certification to OCP 12c directly?

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, October 30, 2014

    Hi Alex,

No, you will not be able to upgrade using this exam. However, there is a path for you from 9i DBA OCA to 12c DBA OCP. You will take exam 1Z0-067 (currently in beta) and complete one relevant 12c training class. You can find more details on our website http://bit.ly/1tmPDEG.

    Hi,

I am an 8i certified (OCP) dba. Unfortunately i lost my original certificate somewhere, still i have the copy of that certificate with me. Is it required to furnish the original at the pometric center for this certification?

    Regrads,

    Gisha

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, December 2, 2014

    Hi Gisha,

We are now delivering exams through Pearson VUE. You do not need your certificate, but you will need your Oracle Testing ID (Prometric ID). If you do not have that, you can contact Oracle Certification Support for assistance http://bit.ly/YpaA7i.

    Thanks

    Praveen

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, December 10, 2014

    Praveen,

You are correct - passing exam 060 will upgrade your 10g DBA OCP to 12c DBA OCP. Additional training is not required.

  • aurelian Monday, December 22, 2014

    Hi Brandy.

Can you share the number of questions from the beta exam 1Z1-067? On the exam page this information isn't very specific (150-220?).

Regarding 1Z0-062, on exam page stated that consist of 95 questions, but some claim that it consist of 2 parts, one of 20 questions, and one 75 questions (following 1Z0-060 model). Can you please clear this out ?

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, December 23, 2014

    Aurelian,

For the 067 beta exam, there are 175 questions.

For the 062 exam, you are correct - it's in 2 parts, and the breakdown is as you mention above. You must pass both parts in order to pass the exam.

    Hello,

We have 11g OCP and I work on a Platinium Oracle partner. My company offers me to take upgrade certificacion exam to 12c.

Seems to exists two path, OCP or OPM Implementation Specialist.

What is the key differences and your opinion on the best certification to take (both are usable to obtain the Oracle 12c Enablement from company point of view if not i'm wrong).

Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional (via 1Z0-060 exam)

    or

Oracle 12c Implementation Specialist ( via Oracle Database 12c Essentials Exam 1Z0-497)

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Rafael.

  • Tony Friday, January 23, 2015

i'm holding OCA 11g i would like to upgrade it to 12c OCA is there a path for this ?

    Regards,

    Tony

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, January 26, 2015

    Hi Tony,

There is not an offical OCA upgrade path, but you could move to 12c DBA OCA by passing only the 062 exam. You would have had to take a SQL exam to qualify for the 11g DBA OCA, so you would not need to re-take a SQL exam for the 12c OCA certification.

If your ultimate goal is to get to 12c DBA OCP, you may want to consider "skipping" 12c OCA and moving straight to 12c DBA OCP by completing relevant training and passing exam 1Z0-067 http://bit.ly/1BfgN1x. This exam is currently in post beta review and should be released in production in a few weeks. I believe that you can currently pre-register for the exam.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Ashok Wednesday, February 11, 2015

I took the test, passed in part 1 of 12c new features with good score and failed in 2nd part of Key DBA skill. I disappointed with testing method. I got certification since 7.3 to 11g and RAC Expert. Key DBA skill part doesn't appears to realistic testing real time DBA experience rather it tests reading skill and unusual configuration. I am supporting Oracle databases in different OS for twenty years, solving most of the problems ourselves and reaching to Oracle support only for code or bug related issues.

    My test feedback

Testing server was too slow, it didn't respond timely. Wasted sizable time

    Fees is expensive

Exam has two sections. No option or indication to identify or select second section, wasted most of the time in first section and failed the test

    Time is not adequate.

It appears, Test is for testing reading skill rather technical skill.

    Ashok

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, February 13, 2015

    Hi Ashok,

Thanks for your feedback. I will pass this on to our exam developers.

If there was an issue with the testing server, did you notify Pearson VUE and create an incident report?

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

    Hi,

I have OCP developer tack on 9i , Now i would like to get certificate oracle 11g DBA ocp. How i can upgrade .Please give me exam codes.

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, February 23, 2015

    Raj,

If you have earned the Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional certification, you likely have passed at least one of the exams in the 11g DBA OCP path.

In order to earn the 11g DBA OCP certification, you will first need to earn 11g DBa OCA http://bit.ly/1jgwflz. There are 2 exams in this path - a SQL exam and exam 1Z0-052. If you passed one of the following exams to earn your Forms Developer certification, then you'll only need to pass exam 052:

    001, 007, 047, 051, 061.

After earning 11g DBA OCA, you'll need to complete the steps to move to 11g DBA OCP - http://bit.ly/1t1VLVH

    - Complete a relevant training course

    - Pass exam 1Z0-053

    - Submit the course details for verification.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

Experiencing the same as other people, passed the first part of the exam which covered 12c new features, but failed the second part on Key Skills - I found the DBA Skills questions asked were completely irrelevant to the job! This is a complete joke that an upgrade exam contain these kind of questions, and if it must, let's try not to put trick questions or things that are irrelevant to the role of a DBA.

I get the feeling now that certification is just another way for Oracle to make money and being OCP (I have 8i, 9i, 10g and 11g OCP already and 15 years of experience as a DBA) is meaningless, mainly because the questions asked on the exam are completely irrelevant to the practical requirements of being a DBA.

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, March 13, 2015

I'm sorry that you had this experience with this exam. These exams are actually developed by subject matter experts and they go through a rigorous beta process to test the validity of the items. I can assure you that there are no exam items that are intentionally created to be 'trick' questions. We take exam development and validity very seriously and would love to hear your feedback.

If you have feedback on specific topics or items, please send your feedback to our Oracle Certification Support team so that they can pass it along to the exam developers http://bit.ly/YpaA7i.

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, April 14, 2015

    Ashwani,

Unfortuntately, Oracle does not provide job assistance. Make as many connections as possible on LinkedIn. You can also get some job expereince by doing contract work. You can get more information at Elance.com or http://bit.ly/LjiDHp.

You can also connect with your peers on the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm.

  • Veena Tuesday, April 21, 2015

    Hi

I want to be 12c OCP DBA

I am a 9i-OCP in developer track (took 7 few years back)

    My question is

I had passed IZO 007 (SQL paper)as part of the OCP developer track which was also one basic exam for 9i DBA track at that time.I could not complete other exams for 9i DBA that time.

Now that I want to be 12c OCP, does IZO007 count towards one exam for 12c OCP DBA?What are the other exams I need to take to achieve 12cDBA?

  • guest Thursday, April 23, 2015

    Veena,

You can see the certification path outlined on our website http://bit.ly/1jgwLjC. You will need to start with the OCA path and then move on to OCP.

You will only need to take one exam - 1Z0-062 for OCA since you've already passed 007.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Yuriy Saturday, May 9, 2015

    Hi ,

I've passed 10g OCA and OCP exams but didn't do the hands on OCP training.

Can I take this exam to upgrade to 12c OCP?

    Many thanks

  • guest Wednesday, May 20, 2015

    Yuriy,

You could take one of the 12c courses that fulfills the training requirement for 12c DBA OCP certification and submit it for your 10g certification. You will need to complete the course and submit the course form before September 1, 2015.

Otherwise, you could upgrade your 10g OCA certification to 12c by completing 12c training and passing exam 1Z0-067.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • guest Thursday, June 4, 2015

    Brandye,

I hold 10g OCP. I am interested in upgrading to 12c by appearing for 1Z0-060 exam. I was told there is cut off date of 1 March,2015 or 1 April 2015 to write 1Z0-060 exam.

What happens if I appear/pass 1Z0-060 exam after this cut off date? I mean, still can I get upgraded to 12c OCP by just writing one exam and all my previous credentials are honored? I am not sure how many exams you have to write if you start fresh for 12c OCP. I am NOT interested in appearing for all those exams, if I have to.

    Thanks

If you miss the upgrade deadline of March 1, 2016, your 10g certification will become inactive and you will no longer have access to the benefits of certification. However, you can reactivate your certification and regain access to certification benefits by passing exam 1Z0-060 and upgrading to 12c. You will not have to pass additional exams.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, June 5, 2015

    Z0-052-ENU-Oracle Database 11g.

    Thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, September 25, 2015

    Hi,

If you have 11g OCA, you'll need to either:

    - Pass exam 1Z0-067 and

    - Complete and submit 12c course details

    or

    - Pass exam 053 to earn 11g OCP

    - Complete and submit 11g course details

    - Pass exam 060 to upgrade to 12c OCP

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, October 1, 2015

You must upgrade from 8i to 11g or 12c by Nov 1 in order to keep your 8i certification active and to keep access to certificate, logo and ability to verify your certification to a 3rd party.

If you miss the deadline, you will still be able to upgrade after the deadline, but you will lose access to the benefits mentioned above until you do upgrade.

    Brandye Barrington

  • MRUNMAYEE Tuesday, October 6, 2015

    I have done with oracle 11g oca certification.completed iz0-051 and iz0-052 exams.

Could you please suggest me which one will be better for me iz0-053(11g ocp)

    or iz0-067(12c upgraded ocp)

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, October 6, 2015

    Mrunmayee,

This is a tough question for me to answer for you. The 067 exam covers a LOT of ground and can be quite a tough exam. However, if you're prepared for it, it is the quickest way for you to get to the latest version of Database Administrator OCP certification - 12c.

Another consideration for you would be what training you have done. If your training is 11g, then I would suggest you pursue the 11g OCP option. If your training is in 12c, then you may consider the 12c OCP option - just be sure to carefully review the exam topics (which you should do if you choose to take either exam!).

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Alim Monday, October 12, 2015

I am oracle 9i ocp certified and I want to upgrade to 12c ocp, I want to know which exam I have take to uprade my ocp to 12c

    Thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, October 12, 2015

    Hi Alim,

If you are 9i OCP, you can upgrade to 12c OCP by passing exam 1Z0-060.

If you have not yet signed in to your CertView account, I suggest that you do so now.

    1. Create a web account at pearsonvue.com/oracle using your Prometric ID (Oracle Testing ID)

-- If Pearson assigns you a new ID, you should contact them immediately to request that they merge the two IDs.

    2. About 48 hours after your Pearson account is created and you have only a single ID, go to certview.oracle.com and authenticate your account using the email address and Oracle Testing ID from your Pearson VUE account.

    Hi Brandye,

I have Oracle 10G OCP Certification, however i don't want to upgrade to 12c OCP now because not ready for this, instead i want to have the 11g OCP upgrade exam (1Z0-050).

Would it be right way to go to 12g OCP, because my certification is going to expire by March 2016.

    Kindly suggest.

    Thanks!

    Gunny

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, October 19, 2015

    Gunny,

You can upgrade to 11g. It is not necessary to go directly to 12c if you are not prepared. You only need to upgrade to 11g by Nov 1.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • guest Friday, October 23, 2015

    Hello,

I hold an Oracle 8 OCP. To get my 12C OCP the only exam required is the 1Z0-060 upgrade exam? No additional courses, nothing more than this? Also, I thought I saw a time constraint on how long this path option was being offered, like through the end of 2015 -- is that true?

    Thanks,

    Malcolm.

  • Tosh Tuesday, October 27, 2015

    Hi Brandye,

I sat for my Oracle 10g exams and passed all including 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 but never attended the class training requirement. How can i go about it to be awarded the certification in 10g OCP?

Is there a course i can attend class to help be recognized as a 10g OCP. I don't want the effort and title to go to waste.

Your advise will be highly appreciated.

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, October 30, 2015

    Tosh,

I recommend that you contact the Oracle Certification Support team http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP to ask what can be done or if any exceptions can be made to allow you to attend an 11g course and still be awarded the 10g credential.

I'm not sure that this will be approved, because we have not been awarding 10g credentials since September, but it's worth a try.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, October 30, 2015

    Malcolm,

You can upgrade to 12c OCP by only passing exam 060. No other steps are required. The deadline is Nov 1 in order to keep your 8i OCP credential active. If you are not able to take the exam by Nov 1, your 8i credential will become inactive on Nov 1, but will be reactivated when you have upgraded.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

    Hi Brandye,

I'm OCP 8i and I'd like to take the exam 1z0-030 in order to be able to upgrade to 11G or 12G. However, when I try to register at https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=652&get_params=p_exam_id:undefined,it says the following: "This exam has been validated against release 10". Do I need to upgrade to 10G from 8i? If yes, which exam do I need to take?

    Thank you very much,

    Franklin

    thanks

  • guest Monday, December 21, 2015

If your certs are in Forms, you would not take the 060 exam. It is only for DBAs. You would probably want to upgrade to this credential Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Forms Developer.

    Hi Brandye,

Can you explain what is the difference between exam 1Z0-060 and 1z0-497..

If I complete 1z0-060 exam will I get OPN certified specialist or I need to do again 1Z0-497 exam to get it?

    Thanks

    Ravi

  • guest Monday, February 15, 2016

    Hi Ravi,

Exam 060 is an upgrade exam to upgrade you from an earlier version of Database OCP to the 12c version. It is focused on the database administrator role.

Exam 497 is more focused on sales and implementation and less on the admin of the database.

These exams do not lead to the same certification.

    Regards,

    Brandye

    Hi Gaurav,

If you have 9i OCA and have passed exam 034, you'll simply need to complete an 11g approved course. Once you complete the training, you'll need to submit the course details for approval.

    Hi,

I recently passed 1z0-062 exam. Funny thing is, I am already an 11g OCA and didn't realize that there was an exam 1z0-067 for an upgrade directly to 12c OCP (butterfingers)!

I have not taken any training at the moment and I believe that one pre-requisite of being an OCP requires completing a training.

I have been a DBA for quite a few years now and having said, I have managed to pass cert exams by only reading Oracle documentations. Having said, will a SELF-STUDY COURSE be sufficient to be accredited as a "training" prerequisite for the OCP (of course, in case I pass either 1z0-063 or 1z0-067)? I am at the moment preparing for it.

    Appreciate it.

    Thanks and regards,

    Nyx

  • guest Tuesday, March 22, 2016

    Hi Nyx,

You will need to complete instructor-led training in the form of in-class, live virtual training or training on demand. Self study does not fulfill the requirement.

Does this will cause my 10g OCP deactive? I mean after giving this exam..

And is it training part can I have to do it from certified oracle institute only or I ll do self study and take exam?

    Please update.

    Hi,

I have my 10g OCP completed in 2009. I have only my old prometric id. I would like to upgrade 10g to 12c OCP. How to register for this upgrade(060) exam using my prometric id?

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, October 20, 2016

    You will need to:

    - Create a profile at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle, using your Prometric ID.

-- If Pearson provides a new Oracle testing ID, you'll need to have your Prometric ID merged with your new ID by contacting Pearson at www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge.

-- Your Prometric ID becomes your Oracle Testing ID.

    - Authenticate your certview.oracle.com account using your Oracle Testing ID and email address.

    - Once you have a Pearson profile and have authenticated your CertView account, you can view your certification history in CertView and register for the upgrade exam in www.pearsonvue.com/oracle.

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, November 2, 2016

You can take the exams in any order. However, you'll need to compelte all requirements in order to earn certification. You will need to pass OCA and OCP exams and complete training in order to earn the OCP certification.

    Hello Brandye,

I'm Oracle 8i OCP certified and would like to obtain the Oracle 12c OCA (associate) certification. Is it sufficient to pass the 1Z0-062 exam? (-> can I skip the SQL exam?).

If later on I want to go for 12c OCP (professional), can I just pass the 1Z0-063 without additional training requirements?

    Thanks!

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, November 4, 2016

    Hi Filip,

Yes, you can earn 12c DBA OCA by passing only 1Z0-062 if you've previously passed a SQL exam - 1Z0-001 or 1Z0-007.

If you ultimately wish to get to 12c DBA OCP, I recommend skipping OCA and upgrading directly to 12c OCP by passing the upgrade exam 060. No additional training is necesssary.

    Hi,
There is no exam testing center in my city. Can I take 1Z0-060 online? If so, will I get similar questions in the exam that I would get in a exam taken at a testing center?

    Thanks,

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, November 28, 2017
    Hi Kashif,
This exam is not available online. You will need to take it in a test center. You may need to travel to a nearby city to take the test.

If you can let me know what city and country, I can discuss test center options with Pearson, but any changes will not likely happen quickly enough for you to take the exam soon.

    Hi Brandye ,
I have an Oracle8 OCP Certification done from India in Nov2001 from Prometric with TESTINGID -10004xxxx(masked). Iam currently in USA since 10yrs. Now i wanted to upgrade to 12c OCP. I have created an id in pearsonvue with my prometric testing id and included the prometric testingid to merge it in pearsonvue . The Pearsonvue id is created but without my past Oracle8 Certification information .
I called pearsonvue helpdesk without much help and was redirected to contact oracle support certview on this as they mentioned that pearsonvue has only the past 10years of data but since my certification was done in 2001 ,it is more than 10yrs and they dont have that information . Now iam stuck with my oracle8 ocpdba without any chance to upgrade to 12c ,because pearsonvue cannot find my records from prometric .
  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, January 16, 2018
    Hi Kishore,
Have you authenticated your CertView account (certview.oracle.com) and signed in to CertView? Pearson VUE does not have the Prometric records, but all your records should be showing up in CertView. Once you've passed your upgrade exam, certification should be granted through CertView.

    Hi Nandha,
    1. You will need to update your profile at pearsonvue.com/oracle.
    2. You will need to update your oracle.com account with the new email address.
    3. You will need to submit a request to the Oracle Certification Support team (https://help-education.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=109:1:106206616802225::::p_prod_id,p_org_id,p_lang:3,1001,US) to re-authenticate your CertView account to your new email address.

Unfortunately, I was quite delayed in responding, so if you've already created a new ID, you'll need to have the IDs merged. Contact Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge.

If you hold the Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional Certification, you can upgrade to 12c R2 by passing this exam - https://education.oracle.com/upgrade-to-oracle-database-12c-r2-administration-certified-professional/trackp_074.

Alternatively, we are releasing the newest version of Oracle Database certification this summer and you can still upgrade from 11g to the new version with a single exam. Stay tuned to this blog for more information.

    Hello
My query is simple. I've completed OCA 10g as well as DBA track. Now want to upgrade myself to 12c.Which exam i should give.

    Cheers

    Sachin
  • Brandye Williams Barrington Thursday, July 11, 2019
    Sachin,
Do you only have the 10g OCA certification, or did you go on to earn 10g OCP?

My understanding is that you have 10g OCA, so I'll provide details for that path.

You can upgrade to 12c certification by 1) completing a relevant 12c course and 2) passing exam 1Z0-067.

Alternatively, you may have seen that we recently published Oracle Database Administration 2019 exams. My recommendation would be to jump over 12c and 12c R2 and move on the most current Database technology and certification.

With a 10g DBA OCA certification, you can earn the Oracle Database Administration 2019 Certified Professional certification (https://education.oracle.com/oracle-database-administration-2019-certified-professional/trackp_DB19COCP) by passing the Oracle Database Administration II | 1Z0-083 exam (https://education.oracle.com/oracle-database-administration-ii/pexam_1Z0-083).

Alternatively, you can get to the most current version of certification - Oracle Database Administration 2019 (based on Database 19c) by passing the new exam 1Z0-083 - https://education.oracle.com/oracle-database-administration-ii/pexam_1Z0-083.

If you need assistance with training for either of these exams, or help with purchasing a voucher for one of these exams, please contact your local Oracle University representative - https://education.oracle.com/OUcontactUs

    Regards,
    Brandye Barrington
