Juan Moreno is a relative new comer to Java, but it was an instant attraction. Earning the Java Programmer Certification opened new doors for him, strengthening his knowledge and giving him increased confidence and credibility. Read about his experience in his own words.
Hi! I'm Juan, I'm from Venezuela but living in Uruguay! I have only been working with Java for about 3 years, but I started to know it from university about 12 years ago. I was using C ++, but when I first met Java I liked its code portability and its garbage collector. When I formally started working as a developer one of my goals was to formalize my knowledge about the platform so I started to study the official Java certification track, getting the Java SE7 OCA in December 2013, then in March 2015 I got the Java SE7 OCP , which fortunately opened more doors for me to grow professionally in another country. The most recent certification I earned was the Java EE6 OCJWCD and I’m still studying for many more…. I believe that the certification track offered by Oracle is very important for developers because it not only strengthens the knowledge but also gives us confidence and credibility with the companies for which we provide services.
There is not much we can add to this. Juan says it all in his closing. If you're on the fence about certification, go ahead and take the plunge! The process of preparing for your certification exams exposes you to concepts and features you may not otherwise discover or use. All that you learn not only can earn you a valuable credential, it makes you better at what you do. When you have more confidence in your work, it shows.
