Oracle Database Certification Helps Student Turn a Goal into a Reality

By: Brandye Barrington | Sr. Program Manager

Are you a goal setter? Do you work hard to achieve those goals, or do they exist more as dreams to realize sometime in the future? Whether you're a dreamer or a doer, you'll be inspired by Hussam Mohammed who has achieved a goal he set for himself upon entering university and has now set his sights higher.

My story with Oracle started my first day at university. It wasn’t an academic day but rather the day we were introduced to the courses required for the ICT degree including the different technologies that we would be using. I only remember two words ‘Oracle’ and ‘Database’. That was the goal I had until I graduated and started my first job where I worked with Oracle databases on daily basis. In the beginning, I tried improving my performance, but that had no effect on gaining me recognition. I thought Oracle certifications might better show my skills and knowledge as a database administrator. The major change that took place when I began the certification path was that I was able to adapt what I learned into the projects assigned to me. I recently passed the required exams and earned the ‘Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Associate.’ With the certification, I have received higher levels of recognition as well as better employment opportunities.

To be continued in the near future with 'Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Professional.'
