Does it mean that for beta exams training is only recommended but not required? "There are three training courses recommended to help you best prepare for this exam" there is nothing about requirements.

If I pass all three exam steps will I receive OCM certificate?

    Thanks

  • guest Tuesday, March 12, 2013

Training is a requirement that is determined by certification path, not by exam. Anyone can take any exam. However, if training is required in the certification path, you will be required to take the training before certification will be granted.

Training is a requirement for this certification. If you'll click on the 'Certification Track' link above, you'll be taken to a page that will give you the requirements for this certification: training>exam>assignment>essay>course form.

The recommended training is just that - it is the training that is recommended to best prepare for the exam. Each exam has a recommended course or courses.

    The certification path is:

    training>exam>assignment>essay>course form

But.. is it possible to take the exam first, then training>assignment>essay>course form and still get certificated?

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, April 2, 2013

You do not have to complete the path in any particular order. However, the training requirement may help you to prepare for your exam.

Hi..I am experience java developer/architect but didn't worked too much on web-service and particular for jsf . Will these two part has significant quesiton in beta exam ?

Also - Can I take a path as - Give exam, do assignment and essay and final step to go for some web-service/jsf course to complete the certification path.

  • majdi Tuesday, May 7, 2013

What is the global cost of this certification?

Should we pay separetly for the assignment and the essay?

    Regards,

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, May 9, 2013

@Guest - You can find exam topics on the exam page on our website at certification.oracle.com. And you do not necessarily need to do exams/training in any order. You do have to do assignment and submit assignment before being able to register for essay.

@Majdi - the cost will vary based on the training you choose. There are 3 exams that each have a price point - you pay for each separately (exam, assignment, essay). And then the training will also have a price point. Different courses may have different prices. You can get an idea by going to the certification track page mentioned above and clicking on each of the exams, this will give you the cost of the testing portion. Then, you'll get the cost of the training portion once you have selected a course.

I have received my score from having done the beta exam. I passed and certview show me my score but it doesn't list any certification achieved.

However, previous email from Oracle was saying:

Register for this beta exam today! If you pass the beta exam, your certification will be upgraded to the latest version of the Enterprise Architect Certification: Oracle Certified Master, Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect

    ...

Then click Apply Voucher and you will be taken to the payment screen where your balance will show as $0.

The voucher end-up to be a scam because they never send it to me, I had to pay $50, then now, I have passed but I'm still not certified.

    We need management upgrade!

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, June 27, 2013

    Sebastian,

I'm not sure what email you are referencing. I assume that you are a Java EE 5 Enterprise Architect OCM?

    1) Regarding voucher: You had to submit a request for the voucher. If you submitted a request for the voucher and never received a response, it was likely sent to your spam or junk mail folders.

    2) Regarding the the certification being granted: It is likely that your prior certification is under a different Testing ID. When you look at your CertView account, does the Java EE 5 OCM certification show up? If not, that certification is under a different record and you will need to request to have the two IDs merged. You can do this by contacting Pearson VUE at pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact. They will merge your IDs and then all of your records will show under the same CertView account.

If you need assistance, please contact Oracle Certification Support http://bit.ly/KMsuH3.

I want to be Java Certified Enterprise Architect.

    Can I take -

Master Architect, Assignment and Essay and when all the results are positive. Can I then go for Training Classes for any of the courses listed.

    Is this Order Ok?

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, August 27, 2013

    Varma,

That order is fine. However, the training classes are meant to help you prepare for the exams. But you do not have to complete the training before the exams.

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, September 4, 2013

We do not have any information at this time on when/if EE 7 exams will be released. At this time, EE 6 is the latest version available.

If a person is oracle's employee does he need to follow the same process of registration?

Is there any internal training team that takes care of certification?

Are there any discounts for oracle's employee for certification?

Could you please let me know the pre-requiste to do the certification "Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect Certified Master Exam".

    Thanks in Advance!

Oracle employees do register for exams the same way everyone else does. You can get more info from the internal website at my.oracle.com>Oracle University>Certification.

You can get more information on the steps to become Java EE 6 EA Certified Master on our website at certification.oracle.com.

    Hi,

I am planning to give this certification and in the preparation stage. Can you please advise if there are books to refer for version 6.

    Thanks.

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, September 27, 2013

I don't know if there are any books yet specific to this certification path since it is fairly new. You can check to see what Oracle Press http://bit.ly/URFuwt has available.

You could also ask this question on our Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm to see if anyone has any other suggestions.

Could you please tell me what is acceptable time interval from training to other steps of the certification path? I have possibility to get training now but I am not going to do next certification steps right now. What is term of validity of training?

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, October 9, 2013

This depends on what training you do and how well you will retain the material. I'd say that if you have the opportunity to take the training, go for it. Just keep an eye on the blog to ensure that the exam(s) you are interested in don't retire. I can't think of any exams for which we plan to announce retirement any time soon, but that would be the biggest risk from waiting. If you're planning to take a fairly new exam, then you don't really need to worry about retirement at this time.

    Brandye Barrington

  • guest Sunday, October 27, 2013

I remember that before you can have this "enterprise architect" certification it is a prerequisite to have a "programmer" certification first. Is this not the case now? because the certification path no longer shows this.

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, October 29, 2013

    Prior certification is not required.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • Suryasnat Das Tuesday, November 12, 2013

Hi,Do we need to complete the training before appearing for the certification exam? Is it mandatory? Or can we just give the exam without taking the training?

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, November 13, 2013

    Hi Suryasnat,

Although it is strongly recommended, it is not required to take training before passing an exam. However, in certification paths that require training, you will need to complete the training before certification will be awarded.

    Hello Brandye,

I want to do Java Enterprise Architect Certified, how much cost is require to do this training and how much it will be helpful for my certification point of view.

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, November 27, 2013

There are two versions of the Enterprise Architect Master certification - Java EE 5 and Java EE 6. You can find the details at http://bit.ly/WP03i1.

A good place to discuss the benefits to your career is the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/WP03i1.

Is not possible try other path because when i go to schedule IZ0-865, for example, there is not option in pearson vue. only for IZ0-807.

  • Viji Tuesday, February 4, 2014

I am planning to take Architect Enterprise Applications with Java EE training class not and take exams later. Please let me know how long this training is valid towards certification. Thanks.

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, February 5, 2014

The training will be valid toward this version of the certification for as long as the certification is available. If a new version of the certification is released, it is possible that the training you took will not count toward the new certification, but it will continue to count toward the EE 6 version.

I would like to ask about.

Is the training package include exam price ?

If the training self study sufficient for pass the exam?

Please, I need a guide to be a certified enterprise architect and the total cost?

    Thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, February 19, 2014

    Ahmed,

The exam price is not included in the training cost. Training is required for this certification. The total cost of certification depends on the cost of the training you choose. There are 3 exams (assignment, essay and exam) and one training course required for certification.

The links above will take you to all the information you need about this exam, the certification path, cost of each piece, etc.

    Hi,

Can i directly give JavaEE exams or do I need to pass JavaSE exams first to be eligible for it?

    Thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Friday, March 13, 2015

For most of the EE certifications, you'll need to first have the SE Programmer certification. You should check each track page to confirm the requirements for each certification. You can start on our website at certification.oracle.com. From the home page, you will be able to link to requirements for each certification.

Will it be released and if so, when?

    Regards Sven Franklin

  • Vadim Friday, August 28, 2015

    Hello,

Is that true if I want to take the exam 1Z0-807 I just must pay money for it and Oracle doesn't oblige me neither to pass another exams, e.g. Java SE 7 Programmer I nor buy trainings, right ?

I'm sorry if I missed something above just want to make it clear.

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Sven, I don't have any info right now on an EE 7 OCM certification.

Vadim, it is true that you can pass the 807 exam and there are no additional obligations. However, you will not be able to - in any way - represent yourself as certified. You will also not earn the Java OCM certification until you complete all the other requirements in the track.

    Ganesh,

    1) You do not need to pass any pre-exams before taking this exam, but the certification will only be granted when you've completed all the certification path requirements https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:212#tabs-2-2.

    2) You can get an idea of the difficulty level of this exam by taking a look at the exam topics - linked from the blog post above.

    - How soon do I need to take the training after the Essay 1Z0-866(6 month or 12 month is OK) to obtain certification?

    - Is "Training on Demand" class "Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML" OK to fulfill the training requirement?

--(A): There is no deadline for completing the training.

    - Is "Training on Demand" class "Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML" OK to fulfill the training requirement?

-- (A): If this class is on the approved courses list, yes. The Training On Demand format fulfills the training requirement.

Today I passed iz0-807. I have seen the exam score and it indicates that I passed the exam. However I am wondering if I get a certificate just for this exam completion. Not even the free t-shirt provided by oracle? Could you please recommend the least costed training which satisfies the pre-requisite?

Also how soon should I take the next exam?

Thank u so much and wish u all happy new year..

    This blog seems very good

  • Brandye Barrington Tuesday, January 3, 2017

    Hi Aneesh,

You will receive the certificate when all certification requirements have been completed. The next step is for you to take the Master Assignment. I know that training can be cost prohibitive. Typically live virtual courses are less expensive than in-class training. Perhaps that would be a viable option for you.

    Good luck on this path!

How much is the total cost about getting certification on the Java EE 6 Enterprise Architect OCM ?

  • Brandye Barrington Thursday, February 2, 2017

The cost of this certification in total will depend on where you're located and your local currency as well as whether you'll need to retake any exam in the path. You can figure the cost by having a look at the requirements on our website. Click each link to be taken to a page where you'll see the cost in your local currency.

    There are 4 requirements:

    - Training course (priced differently depending on format and course length)

    - Exam

    - Assignment

    - Essay

    Dear,

I have some questions about the Java (EE) Enterprise Architect Certified .

As I read in this URL : https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:212

    - In Step 1 : I have to complete one of the courses in the list, so in case i choose "Self-Study Course", do I need to pass an exam or online test ?

    - In Step2 : I already have the OCPJP , how can i prove it to process to step 3 ?

    - In Step 3 & 4: The Exam Preparation is optional , the means I have to choose mandatory one of them OR can i choose none ?

    Thank you & best regards,

    Thang Tran

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, March 1, 2017

    Hello Thang,

Step 1: This training cannot be self study. It must be Training On Demand, Live Virtual Class or Instructor-led In-class training.

Step 2: This certification is in CertView.oracle.com under your Oracle Testing ID

Steps 3&4: The courses listed as optional exam prep are the courses recommended to best help prepare for the exams. To fulfill the requirement in Step 1, you can complete one of these courses or you can complete a different course of your choice as long as it is in the expandable list in Step 1.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Brandye Barrington

  • guest Thursday, April 6, 2017

Thanks for taking time to answer questions. I have long work experience with Java, Weblogic and OSB. As such I can comfortably take one of the

advanced courses from the list provided here

    https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:212

To illustrate my point, I would like to take the course on (Java EE 6: Develop Business Components with JMS & EJBs). I have 2 questions based on this assumption:

    1) The webpage on the certification path does not list any prerequisite training for (Java EE 6: Develop Business Components with JMS & EJBs). The Course Summary PDF does, leading to a discrepancy in the information. For reference, the (Architect Enterprise Applications with Java EE) lists the Required Prerequisites on both the Webpage and the Course Summary PDF. Which one contains the true position?

    2) Related to #1 above, The Course Summary PDF lists two "Required Prerequisites" (i. Java SE Programming ii. Developing Applications with Java EE 6 on WebLogic Server 12c) . If I complete this training (Java EE 6: Develop Business Components with JMS & EJBs) without taking the 2 prerequisite trainings, and also proceed to complete the exam, assignment and essay, is the certification path still valid? (Note the Java SE Programming has its own prerequisite, Java SE Fundamentals, the list of dependencies can get long and costly which is worrying)

    Thank you.

  • guest Monday, April 10, 2017

I think you may be getting confused between training and certification.

This page https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=654&get_params=p_id:212 represents an Oracle Certification. The requirements to earn this certification are listed on that page. There is a training requirement to earn this certification. You must take one of the courses listed on that page.

"1) The webpage on the certification path does not list any prerequisite training for (Java EE 6: Develop Business Components with JMS & EJBs). The Course Summary PDF does, leading to a discrepancy in the information. For reference, the (Architect Enterprise Applications with Java EE) lists the Required Prerequisites on both the Webpage and the Course Summary PDF. Which one contains the true position?"

This is a question for Oracle University. I'm not sure about training prerequisites. http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=225

"2) Related to #1 above, The Course Summary PDF lists two "Required Prerequisites" (i. (Note the Java SE Programming has its own prerequisite, Java SE Fundamentals, the list of dependencies can get long and costly which is worrying)"

The certification is valid if you complete the requirements listed on the certification track page that you have mentioned above.

    Brandye Barrington
