Brandye Barrington
Sr. Program Manager

It's a new year. Is it time for you to update your skills?

Applications in the cloud change rapidly. You could get left behind in the blink of an eye if you don't continue to learn and grow your skills.

You may have noticed in September that a number of new Cloud Certification exams were released with the version 2019. If you recently earned the same certification versioned 2018, you may be wondering how these new releases affect you.

With the rapid pace of Cloud technologies, the skills and knowledge you need for your job may change quickly. In order to keep up with updated requirements, Cloud specialists need to commit to updating and renewing their skills regularly. Oracle's Cloud Recertification Policy and continually updated learning subscriptions help you keep your skills sharp and remain relevant in your field.

The Oracle Cloud Recertification Policy states:

Oracle Cloud Certification credentials are valid for a period of 18 months from the date you earn the credential. The credential will become inactive at the end of 18 months. Oracle requires candidates to hold an active credential in order to access certain certification benefits including, without limitation, use of Oracle certification logos, eCertificates, score reports and certification verification. To stay current, candidates must re-certify themselves with the latest version of the exam. Oracle Cloud Certifications include Oracle Certified Associate, Specialist and Professional titles. Oracle Cloud Certifications are updated continuously throughout the year to keep current with major product and service releases, and re-released on an annual basis with a new title.

Note:

(1)   Credentials earned by passing 2019 / future exams after 12-Sep-2019 will remain active for 18 months from the date of earning them

(2)   Credentials earned by passing 2019 exams on or before 12-Sep-2019 will remain active till 12-Mar-2021

Do You Have Oracle Cloud Recertification Questions? Get Your Answers Below

Why did Oracle implement this policy?

Recertification is a common practice in the IT industry. Oracle Cloud technology is moving at a lightning pace. Skills and knowledge from 18 months ago are archaic. This policy is implemented to enable you to best support your customers, partners and projects. You need to stay current with latest training and certification.

When did the policy take effect?

This policy took effect on 12-Sep-2019 with the new 2019 Cloud Certifications.

I already have an Oracle Cloud certification, how long is it valid?

Existing “2019” cloud credentials will be active for 18 months from the date of introduction of the policy (Till 12-Mar-2021)

Existing “2018” and “older” cloud credentials will be active till 1-Jun-2020

Why do I have to recertify?

It is important to remain current on the technology. Cloud credentials become inactive at the end of 18 months from the time you earned them. If you hold a Cloud credential that will soon become inactive or has already become inactive, you must take the latest version of the exam to remain current.

What will happen if my credential becomes inactive?

You will no longer be able to access/use the certification benefits such as print eCertificate, share an active digital badge, or verify your credential through CertView.

My Cloud credential has become inactive. What do I do now?

Simply take and pass take the latest version of the exam and earn the latest Cloud credential to activate your new credential and gain access to all the benefits of certification. Please visit the All Exams page on our website to view the latest exams.

If I recertify, will my previous credential become active again?

No, the previous credential will still remain inactive. You will receive a new credential based on the latest exam that you passed.

How will I know, when my credential will become inactive?

You will receive notifications from Oracle University regarding the certification that needs to be updated and the deadline.

Are all Cloud certifications included in this Recertification Policy?

Yes, all Cloud certifications are included in this Recertification Policy.

Note for 2019 and future credentials:

  • If you earned a 2019 Cloud credential before we introduced this policy, your credential will remain active till 12-Mar-2021.
  • If you earn the credential after we introduced this policy, your credential will remain active for 18 months from the date you earned it.

Note for 2018 and older credentials:

  • If you earned 2018 or older credentials, your credential will remain active till 01-Jun-2020.
