Guest Author
Hi Everyone,

An
important
follow-up to the recent announcement related to our re-branding of the Sun certification program. You may have noticed that there are
several Java Enterprise Edition 6 certification exams in beta that
were a part of the re-brand. These exams (and related credentials)
became Oracle-branded exams on September 1. These beta exams are still
available through September 30, 2010 and cost only $50 (significantly
less than production price).
Candidates
who succeed in passing these beta exams will be the first to receive
the Oracle certification credential for Java EE6.

The Java EE6 exam betas that are still available are:

  • CX-311-085 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 JavaServer Pages and Servlet Developer Certified Expert Exam
  • CX-311-093 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 Enterprise JavaBeans Developer Certified Expert Exam
  • CX-311-094 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 Java Persistence API Developer Certified Expert Exam
  • CX-311-232 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 Web Services Developer Certified Expert Exam
  • CX-311-086 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 JavaServer Faces Developer Certified Expert Exam

Keep in mind that these exams will be available in beta only until September 30, 2010. After September 30 these exams will go offline for post-beta analysis.

Was the JSF beta exam ( CX-311-086 Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 JavaServer Faces Developer Certified Expert Exam
    ) actually released, or not?
Unlike the other beta exams listed in this blog entry, the JSF exam is not listed on the "Beta Info" page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=182 ; and the "Exam" link on the page http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=428 retrieves "No exam information for the specified page".

    Hi Kevin,
Sorry for the confusion on this. At the last minute, this beta exam was not released. We removed the references from the website, but missed this blog post. The JSF beta exam is still pending. We hope to release it in the near future. Keep an eye on our website and this blog for more info.
    Thanks,

  • Brandye Barrington Monday, January 24, 2011
    Hi Lucas,
We expect all the beta results for the Java Enterprise Edition 6 exams to be released by mid-late February. We apologize for the delay in these results, there were some issues with evaluating these exams. You should have your beta scores soon!

Is there any news update about the CX-311-086 JSF Exam? Will it be possible to take this exam ever, or is it removed from the roadmap?
    Regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Brandya,

I am looking to take up certification in pl/sql . I am java developer. I would like to test my skills in querying. Please tell me the exam code so that I can start preparing. I am not clear what to take up as Oracle has application developer exams and database administrator exams.

I want to take up application developer exam. Kindly guide.

    Many thanks,

    Shyam!

    Hi Shyam,

You can see the available PL/SQL certifications on our website here http://bit.ly/kVicb7. When you've selected the certification that you wish to pursue, you will see the exams that are required for that certification. Good luck on your certification path!

  • Tibi Monday, February 6, 2012

    Hello,

I'm taking the Java EE 6 Web Services Developer Certified Expert Exam and the list of exam topics is not elaborate enough, looks like the old list from the CX-311-232 Beta Exam. Is it possible to get some extra info on this one ?

    Thanks

  • Brandye Barrington Wednesday, February 8, 2012

    Hi Tibi,

This is the same exam as 311-232, so the topics remain the same. The exam may have gone through a regular review cycle, but there were no major changes made to the new exam. This is the only list of exam topics available at this time.

    Hi!

Could you tell me when the new Java EE 7 certification exams will release, please? I am especially interested in JavaEE7 EJB developer and JPA developer beta exams.

In that case you have no exact plan for this, Could I expect these beta exams in this year or the following year maybe?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, we don't have dates on those betas yet. Stay tuned!
