'The Real Value of Certification' was posted nearly 5 years ago, but still rings true today. This message is timeless. Just ask Alex Zaballa who began his Oracle Certification journey way back on the Developer 6i certification. This was certainly after the wheel was invented, but before my phone became smarter than I.
Since then, Alex has gone on to earn over 200 Oracle Certifications, including 3 Oracle Certified Master credentials!
Why does he continue to invest the time and money in certification? What does he get out of it? Alex says, "The preparation for the exams is the best way to learn all product features."
Alex embodies, in his long string of accomplishments, our sentiments exactly. The real value in a certification comes with the skills and knowledge gained while preparing for the exam.
Read Alex Zaballa's story below in his own words.
I started with Oracle certifications at the time of Developer 6i, when I was a developer. After a few years, I had a chance to become a DBA and I started my preparation for the Oracle Database Administrator certifications.
When I speak about certifications, the Oracle Certified Master has always been my aim.
In addition to OCP I also passed several OCE and OCS exams. I used these exams as preparation for the OCM 11g.
After OCM 11g, I passed on OCM 12c upgrade, OCM Database Cloud and OCM 12c MAA.
The preparation for the exams is the best way to learn all product features, you have to read the documentation, test on your lab and be prepared enough.
Now, I have more than 200 Oracle Certifications (Including OPN certifications).
You can see my certification list here.
