Hi, I completed Oracle 11g SQL exam (1z0-051), Now i'm preparing for OCA Admin-1 (1z0-052), but right now I'm working in Oracle 9i and suggest me, is it really a good idea to have certification in oracle 11g while I'm working in 9i (I dont see in near future my client is going to upgrade)

Posted by Rajarajan on February 25, 2010 at 05:27 PM PST #

Hi Rajarajan – a good question that depends on your situation. If your client is NEVER going to upgrade then staying at 9i is fine. But being certified on 11g could help make you the go-to person should they start looking at upgrading. Going to 11g also opens up your options for additional client projects as well who are considering or are already are at 11g.

I was wondering when you take the test do you know your results immediately?

Posted by Shruti on January 13, 2011 at 12:21 PM PST #

Shruti, When you take a production exam, you know your results immediately. When you take a beta exam, the results are delayed. A production exam will start with '1Z0' and a beta exam will start with '1Z1'. Regards, Brandye Barrington

Took the 1Z0-052 Database Admin 1 exam today. Got 55%. 11% short of a pass. Very disappointed, but looking forward to trying again. Used Administration 1 Exam Guide from Oracle Press by John Watson. And some free guides from the Oracle site. Exam was very tricky though. Wish me luck!

Recentely I have certified 1z0-007. I have a question regarding 10g/ 11g. I have checked several institute in Mumbai I would like to certified 1z0-052 however all the institute are saying we don't teach 11g & you can give certificaton for 1z0-042 not 1z0-052. Please suggest should I go for 1z0-042 or else of 1z0-052 ? Or should I study for 10g and give 1z0-052 certification exam ?

Posted by HemantT on May 30, 2011 at 06:30 PM PDT #

Hello HemantT, Just to clarify, you may have passed the 007 exam, but you are not 'certified' yet. This may just be an issue of syntax, but we must be careful about using the word 'certified.' The exam 007 does not certify you on its own. Now, regarding your issue, perhaps the institutes in your area do not yet teach the 11g training, but you can take the 11g exam 052, at any Pearson VUE testing center www.pearsonvue.com/oracle. You should be able to obtain the 11g training at your local Oracle University training center http://bit.ly/dspqdH. Regards, Brandye Barrington Oracle Certification Program

You should start on our website certification.oracle.com. You should also search our Certification Forum http://bitly.com/iRHsSl. There is a lot of good information there. If you don't find what you need, pose your questions to the group. They are very helpful. We wish you the best in your certification path!

Hi Brandye,
am planning to take the exam, 1Z0-052. on passing the exam, what certification title will i get?

Posted by Sheick on February 15, 2013 at 08:17 AM PST #

Hi Sheick,
If you have already passed a SQL exam, you will receive the 11g DBA OCA certification upon passing the 052 exam. If you have not previously passed a SQL exam, you will need to pass 052 and a SQL exam (051, 007 or 047) in order to obtain a certification.

Hi Brandye,

Can I talk the 1Z0-052 Exam before the a SQL exam(051,007 or 047)?,and if I need an off-line tutorials for preparing to take the 1Z0-52 exam like pdf files or something like this, form where I can get it!

Posted by Ala' on April 27, 2013 at 04:23 AM PDT #

You can take the exams in any order, but you will only receive the certification once you have completed all requirements.

Regarding pdf files, etc, I don't believe that there are any legal items available. You can purchase Oracle Press books, or there are some good books on Amazon that others have praised highly. Visit our Certification forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm to get more information on books that will help you prepare.

Hi Mayank,
You can check Oracle Press http://bit.ly/URFuwt to see what books they may have available. You can also have a look at the Oracle Certification Forum http://bit.ly/Lt5vhm. There have been a few books suggested there.

Good luck on your certification path.

Hi,I plan to sit for 1Z0-052 exams, were can I get a dump of question that are arranged by topics?

Posted by ku-net on September 16, 2013 at 11:51 PM PDT #

Hi Ku-net,
Do you realize that you've just asked for cheating materials on the Oracle Certification blog? Dumps are cheating materials - don't use them. You could lose your certifications and be banned from further testing.

Hi, i am Oracle 8i certified since 2002. I want to go 11g. I want to confirm if sql 1Z0-001 that i passed then can substitute for sql 1Z0-052? Pls reply. Thanks

Posted by guest on January 25, 2014 at 02:54 PM PST #

Yes, your 001 exam will fulfill the SQL exam requirement (051). If you plan to follow the 11g OCA/OCP path, you'll need to pass exams 052 and 053. If you want to upgrade, you can pass 030 to upgrade to 9i and then 055 to upgrade from 9i to 11g. Or you can pass 045 to upgrade to 10g and then 050 to upgrade from 10g to 11g. Any of the 3 paths you choose will require 2 exams.

Hi Brandye.
Thanks for the clarification that 1Z0-001 can substitute for 1Z0-051. I learnt i should use the exam ID that i used in writing the 1Z0-001 exam to write 1Z0-052, 1Z0-053 and subsequent exams. If that is the case, how can i know the exam ID i used in writing 1Z0-001? Please respond. Thanks again

Dear Sir,

I had done my fiest exam 1Z0-007 SQL at july 2011. and i passed that exam with 84 % now i would like to complete this cetification so can i continue with 1Z0-052 administration exam? d0 i get benifits of that or not.

Posted by gautam sahu on February 03, 2014 at 05:33 AM PST #

I would suggest contacting Pearson VUE and letting them know your issue. They can help you set up your new account using the correct ID. www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/contact.

Hi Gautam,
You can move on to the 052 exam, no problem. The results of the 007 exam are still valid.

Is it necessary to write 1z0-051 before writing 1z0-052? Or Can I take 1Z0-052 directly with out writing any other certifications?

Posted by sans on March 06, 2014 at 07:55 PM PST #

You can take 052 first. However, you will only receive the certification once you have passed 051 (or another SQL equivalent - 061 or 047).

Hi Brandye.

You've been very helpful in time past and I am grateful. I need assistance but it's nothing to do with certification. You may need to redirect me. Guys in the forum should be helpful

I have Oracle virtual machine 4.3.12 installed on Windows 7 operating system 64 bit. Guest Operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 32 bit.
I want to install Oracle 11g release 2
on the guest os.

Please give me a URL where I can get it downloaded. Please, if necessary, discuss with your colleagues.

Dear Sir,

I heard that some of the exams are divided into two subsets (SUBSET-1 & SUBSET-2). Where SUBSET-1 (20 marks) and SUBSET-2(50 marks) likewise. And to pass the exam it is needed to clear both SUBSETS. Is it the same in this exam?
This exam '1Z0-052', also following the same pattern or it’s only a one set of 70 questions?

I am going to appear this exam after two weeks time so need your help.

Thank you for your support in advance.

Typically, if there are multiple sections of an exam, we will note this on the exam page http://bit.ly/1jgxXmX.The web page does not indicate that there are multiple sections on this exam.

Good day

My name is Archibonganwan Duke,

I had my Oracle SQL and OCA since 2010 and I have not received my result up till now.

I wrote the exam in First Logic Center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Can you please assist me to locate this result as I need it for my Proffesional engagements.

Your response will be highly appreciated.

Posted by archibonganwan Duke on October 27, 2015 at 06:00 AM PDT #

Hello Archibonganwan,
Did you take your exams through Prometric or Pearson VUE?

If you took the exams through Pearson VUE, you can go directly to certview.oracle.com and authenticate your account using details from your Pearson VUE profile. In CertView, you will be able to view your exam history and certification history. You will also be able to download and print your eCertificate and access your certification logos - IF your certifications are 10g or later. If your certifications are on versions earlier than 10g, you can still view your certifications in CertView, but you'll need to upgrade your certifications to a current version before being able to access the eCertificate and logo.

If you took the exams through Prometric, you'll need to first create a web account at pearsonvue.com/oracle, using your Prometric ID. If Pearson VUE assigns you a new Oracle Testing ID, you will need to contact them at pearsonvue.com/oracle/idmerge to request that they merge the new ID and your old Prometric ID so that you have only one ID. Then you'll use the surviving ID and your email address to authenticate your CertView account.
